Fans all over the world celebrated Star Wars Day–May the 4th be with you! This week, Lucasfilm announced the casting for Star Wars Episode VII followed by the premiere of the trailer for their new animated series, Star Wars Rebels. The trailer received a Death Star-sized debut, broadcasting in over 160 countries and over 439 million households worldwide.

Global highlights include special Star Wars themed rugby matches in Australia, Star Wars 6K runs in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, character appearances in London, fan events in Shanghai, China and an intergalactic takeover of the Roman Colosseum in Italy, to name a few.

The festivities weren’t limited to just our planet as R2-D2 helped the International Space Station deliver a special message to Star Wars fans around the world through a special collaboration with NASA and Space Center Houston. Celebrities such as Simon Pegg, Charlize Theron, Tony Hawk & Robbie Williams even got in on the fun sharing photos and wishing fans a happy Star Wars Day.
