During Destination D23, Disneyland Resort culinary director John State unveiled a never-before-seen artist concept rendering of the enhanced patio space from Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, which is currently closed for an exciting renovation. Fans had the chance to get a first look at the restaurant’s al fresco dining option, with Disney California Adventure park serving as the backdrop for a unique culinary adventure.
When it reopens, the award-winning Napa Rose will offer an elevated dining experience, blending timeless Craftsman design with a fresh take on modern Californian sophistication and warmth, and immersing guests in a way only Disney can do.
Elegant New Patio Seating
The outdoor patio is being thoughtfully enhanced to welcome more guests for al fresco dining. Imagine settling into a comfortable seat surrounded by lush greenery and soft lighting, the California breeze enhancing the flavors of your meal. The space invites you to relax and savor each bite while taking in the beautiful outdoor setting.
Two new fireplaces will cast a warm, flickering glow across the patio, adding a cozy and inviting touch to the atmosphere. As the sun sets, you can gather around the fire, reflecting on your Disney day and enjoying the ambiance.
Napa Rose has long been celebrated for its refined California cuisine crafted from the finest ingredients, and the restaurant will unveil a brand-new menu designed to delight every palate.

Sanctity Hotel brings new boutique luxury and charm to Rancho Cucamonga
I love it when a new hotel enters the Southern California hospitality scene – especially when it comes to an emerging destination city like Rancho Cucamonga. Such is the case with Sanctity Hotel and Durango Cocina & Rooftop Bar (https://www.sanctityhotel.com/), which opened this past April.
As part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the 68-room boutique hotel brings new luxury to Rancho Cucamonga with amenities, including a state-of-the-art gym, sauna, and the ultra-modern Thriv Studio, which offers advanced wellness therapies.

Sanctity rooms are designed with a unique blend of modern luxury and classic charm
The family and I recently snuck away to Sanctity for a memorable day and night of comfort and culinary delight. Our getaway began when we checked into a spacious new suite with two queen beds, topped with high-quality linens with plush pillows, and accented by intricately gorgeous, hand-carved wooden head boards imported from Mexico.
The room also came with a 65-inch flat screen HDTV, a work desk with ergonomic chair, wireless internet, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and a bright and luxurious bathroom with extra storage space and beautiful tile.
Once acquainted with our room, we explored the property. The white, mission-style design of the exterior compliments the hotel’s modern interior, where guests will be enchanted by a unique interpretation of the five fundamental elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space. Inspired by the palaces of India and brought to life with natural materials, the interiors are grounded in earth through the use of hand-carved Parota wood sourced from Mexico.
Air and space are reflected in the open layouts and expansive flow of the property, including Rancho Cucamonga’s first rooftop bar. Perched above the Sanctity Hotel, the rooftop location boasts sweeping views of the nearby San Gabriel Mountains, and the vibrant Rancho Cucamonga cityscape.

We had appetizers at the rooftop and were amazed by the ambiance and flavors. Our meal began with fresh and delicious Ceviche Classico De Camaron, made with shrimp marinated with cucumber, onion, tomato, avocado, and house-made salsa marisquera, served with crispy tostadas. The tasty guacamole was blended with grilled onion, cilantro, and serrano. Served with crispy house-made tostadas.
After the appetizers we were ready for the main course at Durango Cocina (https://www.durangococina.com/), the hotel’s signature restaurant. Led by Chef Alex Carrasco, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, Durango Cocina’s menu pays tribute to the culinary heritage of Durango, Mexico, while integrating locally sourced ingredients and modern cooking techniques.
The carne asada at Durango Cocina is a must for any steak lover
Our dinner at Durango began with spinach salad, with garlic-sautéed spinach, quesillo cheese, crispy onions, and lime-infused spinach chips. For the main course I experienced the carne asada plate, with dry-aged ribeye with guajillo potato purée, roasted vegetables, and chipotle demi-glace. This succulent masterpiece came to the table with a tiny grill so I could keep roasting the steak or heat my tortillas and veggies.
The churros are sweet, crunchy and cooked to perfection
For dessert, we sampled two delectable types of churros. The first was Chocalete Caliente Churros, filled with chocolate, hazelnut sauce, rose petals, and served with hot cocoa. The second was Churros Con Crema De Cacahuate, with peanut butter cream and dulce de leche ice cream. The churros were crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside, and the sauces complimented the dish nicely.
After dinner I worked out at the state-of-the-art fitness center, where I walked a few miles on a treadmill with interactive world locations on the screen. Walking along a tropical beach with waves crashing at my feet made the workout enjoyable and before I knew it, I had walked three miles.
The next morning, we were back at Durango Cocina for a great breakfast. I devoured Huevos rancheros, a traditional Mexican breakfast with fried eggs and beans on top of lightly fried corn tortillas and smothered in a salsa. The kids split pancakes with ice cream and fruit on top.
Victoria Gardens mall and Bass Pro Shops is only a couple miles away from Sanctity
After breakfast we drove a couple miles to Victoria Gardens, an outdoor shopping mall, with tons of shopping, dining, and entertainment options including The Apple Store, Macy’s, JCPenney, AMC Theatres, the Victoria Gardens Cultural Art Center, the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library, and over 150 retailers and eateries. The mall is also home to one of my family’s favorite stores: Bass Pro Shops.
At Bass Pro Shops (https://www.basspro.com/), aka Outdoor World, we love the giant aquarium with live fish, and all of the stuffed animals such as bears, hogs, deer and wolves. The humungous store also has incredible sections for camping, fishing, hunting, boating and outdoor clothes. There is even a restaurant and activities for kids on select days.

During “What’s Cooking with Disney Eats” panel at Destination D23 in Orlando, Florida, the food & beverage teams alongside host Keith Habersberger from the Try Guys served up a full menu of announcements, with a highlight being the reveal of eight new novelty items coming to select Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line ships – including popcorn buckets, sippers, and mugs.
The History of Disney Novelty Buckets
Popcorn has been popping on Disney property since the opening day of Disneyland park 70 years ago, and it has since become a staple snack for anyone visiting a Disney Destination. The salty, buttery flavor we all know and love is the most classic version, but guests can now also enjoy different specialty offerings that vary by season or location – all of which can be served in a variety of vessels.
Simple plastic popcorn buckets were introduced at Disney parks in the ‘90s, making way for the first character-inspired bucket – a Mickey Mouse Ghost – to debut in 2010. This opened the door for a whole new world of buckets, inspired by our favorite characters and featuring elements like light up features, sound effects, and wearable straps. From Star Wars droids and the beloved Figment to park symbols like trains and balloons, the teams who develop these incredible creations have a seemingly never-ending vault of inspiration to dip into.

Princess Cruises unveils the next evolution of Spellbound by Magic Castle, the captivating speakeasy experience born from a collaboration with the famed Hollywood icon, The Magic Castle®. Reimagined for the brand-new Star Princess, this immersive venue invites guests into a mesmerizing world of illusion, sleight-of-hand, and unforgettable storytelling at sea.
Building on its acclaimed debut aboard Sun Princess, Spellbound by Magic Castle experience aboard Star Princess delivers a new thematic paying homage to the golden age of magic, with a special nod to one of its most iconic figures: Richard Valentine Pitchford—better known as Cardini. A master of sleight-of-hand and theatrical illusion, Cardini captivated audiences with elegance and mystery. His legacy lives on through his great-nephew, Randy Pitchford, owner of the Magic Castle, and now echoes through this enchanting experience aboard Star Princess.
As the venue unfolds, a series of new uniquely themed spaces are unveiled, including a whimsical ticketing booth, the mysterious Inner Circle, the enchanting Cardini Bar, a behind-the-curtain Backstage area, and the Peacock Theater. Each space is richly detailed with eclectic décor, moody lighting, and theatrical flourishes that heighten the sense of wonder.
As part of its transformation, Spellbound on Star Princess will introduce an exclusive new cocktail menu featuring handcrafted drinks available only at the Cardini Bar. In a move to make this not-to-be-missed experience more accessible, Spellbound by Magic Castle is open to all guests aboard Star Princess with several showtimes nightly. Unlike the original concept, Spellbound will no longer include dinner service prior to showtime. Guests are encouraged to dine at least two hours prior to their reservation to allow for uninterrupted enjoyment of the experience.

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party start on Sunday Aug. 17 and On select nights through Oct. 31, 2025, the separately ticketed, after-hours party at Disney California Adventure park conjures Halloween mischief and mayhem for guests of all ages.
What’s Included with a Ticket to Oogie Boogie Bash?
On event nights, the party officially begins at 6:00 p.m. and continues until 11:00 p.m. That is five hours to enjoy Halloween experiences guests can only find at this after-hours soiree.
Pre-party park mix-in: Oogie Boogie Bash tickets include admission to California Adventure as early as 3:00 p.m. – three hours before the party starts! During this time, guests can check out offerings available during regular park hours.
Photos from the party: Guests get to enjoy unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos captured during the party. They scan the QR code on event wristband via the Disneyland app to access the photo gallery. The pictures can be downloaded from their MyDisney account as often as desired, up to 45 days after initial capture.
Commemorative event guide: The beautifully designed map is handy to reference during the party, and afterwards, it is a collectible keepsake to remember their visit.
Oogie Boogie Bash Costume Tips and Dress Code
One of the perks of Oogie Boogie Bash is the opportunity for everyone to dress up in costume. Guests are invited to get creative, devise a devious disguise or bring out their villainous side – just be sure to follow the costume guidelines.

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, happy haunts from the Haunted Mansion and more take to the streets of California Adventure during the “Frightfully Fun Parade.” It’s a wicked gathering guests can only witness during Oogie Boogie Bash.
Bookable for an additional fee, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party includes preferred seating for the “Frightfully Fun Parade,” delectable treats, beverages and a collectible enamel pin. As the parade processes through the park, guests can dig into freeze-dried fruit with gummy worms, a blueberry ooze cake, mini cupcakes and more. Advanced reservations are highly recommended.

“Some Like It Out” tap dances and kicks off in spectacular fashion at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. The Golden Age of Hollywood brings the golden years of Pantages Theatre to breathtaking life like never before. “Some Like It Hot” is an unbeatable match to Pangages with the show’s time period setting in 1933 and the theater having opened in 1930. Based on the 1959 movie of the same name starring Marilyn Monroe, the live musical adaptation updates scenarios and characterizations not only for the stage, but for modern audience tastes as well keeping topics relevant, powerful, yet still comical wrapped in vibrant choreography.
Sweet Sue (Tarra Conner Jones) decides she’s had enough of 1933 Chicago life as a singer dealing with cops during Prohibition. Going into business for herself traveling across America via train managing an all-female band. This set up becomes the ideal hiding spot for two male musicians, Joe (Matt Loehr) and Jerry (Tavis Kordell), on the run from gangster Spats (Devon Goffman) after reluctantly becoming witnesses to Spats’ murderess act.
All Joe and Jerry have to do is dress and pretend to be female musicians until the band’s final stop in San Diego where they’ll escape to Mexico. Besides trying not to get caught, only one other obstacle stands in their way in the beautifully irresistible form of lead singer Sugar (Leandra Ellis-Gaston). While Sugar’s sweet charm has caught the eyes of Joe, Jerry has unexpectedly caught the gaze of adorably wealthy San Diego hotel owner, Osgood (Edward Juvier). The delicate juggling act only gets more complicated with Spats in hot pursuit of his key murder witnesses.
“Some Like It Hot” is the big musical comedy that makes the Pantages Theatre shine even more. The matching aesthics in the architectural design is just the tip of the iceberg as the talented cast dance, dance, dance out to their heart’s content. A plethora of musical numbers takes the audience back to an era of swinging jazz, big band beats, and spirited life unable to be contained.
The dance chase sequences between doorways and byways become more and more elaborate. A big shout out and ode to that Golden Age of Hollywood musicals. As much beloved as the original movie is, the stage musical takes the male in female disguise concept to a whole new level.
If you’re aching for classical ballads and fast paced ensemble dance moves, “Some Like It Hot” has just the ticket for you. Joe and Jerry are the iconic dual not only for playing up laughs dressed as the opposite sex, but also providing approachable and accessible context of the troupe that appeases more to a contemporary audience.
The basic story beats are familiar with the production spinning a lot of originality in its characterizations to work the concept on stage able to stand on its own from its movie counterpart. Even if you’re not familiar with the movie, it is not essential viewing to enjoy the show. Musical numbers range from intimate to fantastical.
Principle characters are perfectly cast in their respective roles. Every actor knows their character inside and out. It does seem a bit jarring to have actors play characters that are musicians, but apparently pretend to play them on stage as the real instruments are played from the orchestra pit. In addition to the ensemble performing tap dancing numbers wearing dance shoes in sync with audio of tapping played.
With the exception of Joe and Jerry clearly wearing the fancy footwear. There was one other head scratcher where a newspaper headline read mobster boss seeking to find murder witnesses. Which then encourages our protagonist to precede with their scheme.

Brought to life by SeaWorld’s animal care team, this experience offers a more personal, inspiring and educational look at orcas, their natural behaviors and the strong human-animal bonds that define their care.
“This was a true team effort,” said Blake Foster, Senior Zoological Specialist who first saw the orca presentation at SeaWorld when he was just four years old—and knew then he wanted to have a profession working with orcas. “We’ve dreamed about this for years. We started working on the new presentation in 2023, and every moment has been about deepening the connection between the orcas, us and the guests.”
The presentation varies by day, offering a rotating experience that reflects the individuality of each animal, so guests are likely to see something new in the presentation every time they visit. The orcas demonstrate natural behaviors seen in the wild – powerful breaches, hunting techniques, playful splashes and engaging enrichment sessions – encouraging the orcas to be cognitive and physically stimulated while giving guests a firsthand look at their incredible capabilities. The presentation also features dynamic video elements produced in collaboration with SeaWorld’s Entertainment team, adding depth and perspective to the conservation message.
Orca Encounter puts a spotlight on the daily routines of the orca care team, the relationships they nurture with each orca, and their commitment to animal care. The presentation also highlights the behind-the-scenes contributions of the park’s dedicated veterinary team and its orcas to critical marine science. These animals play a central role in groundbreaking research aimed at protecting endangered wild populations, including the Southern Resident killer whales of the Pacific Northwest. They have supported studies on heart rate, metabolism, hearing, and body condition via drone imagery—research partnerships, including with NOAA, that are advancing wild orca conservation science.
Veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Russell recently published groundbreaking findings using infrared imaging to measure orca blowhole temperatures, a method that may lead to non-invasive health assessments via drones for wild orcas; and the park has shared more than 20 years of veterinary data with thousands of blood tests that provide scientists with the most comprehensive baseline of healthy orca blood values to date. This kind of data is nearly impossible to collect from wild whales and is helping federal agencies better understand how to assess and intervene with sick or stranded orcas.
“Our animal care team is devoted to these animals, often spending more time with the orcas than they do with their own families,” said Eric Otjen, Vice President of Zoological Operations at SeaWorld San Diego. “This presentation is a tribute to those bonds and to the potential we have to inspire change through connection and education.”
In addition to the refreshed content, guests will notice nods to SeaWorld’s past. The orca team now wears revived nostalgic uniforms that celebrate the legacy of the park while embracing a forward-looking mission focused on conservation, education and inspiration. The park hopes each guest leaves feeling more inspired to safeguard our oceans, continue to learn more about orcas in the wild, and return again to catch a new glimpse into the world of these intelligent, dynamic marine mammals.

Following its exciting unveiling at Annecy International Animation Festival last month, Marvel Animation’s “Eyes of Wakanda” will now be available for fans to enjoy on Disney+ earlier than anticipated. The all-new series, which features four episodes, will debut on August 1, 2025.
The new action-adventure series, which was produced in partnership with Proximity Media’s Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Kalia King, follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda.
