Chance Theater is bringing back its sold-out holiday hit Scrooge! The Musical for a return engagement this holiday season. The heartwarming adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol returns to Anaheim, with Bruce Goodrich reprising the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, after last year’s sold-out run. We reviewed last year’s production, and we cannot wait to see it back on stage.
Set in Victorian London, the story follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted moneylender who despises Christmas and lives a life devoid of compassion and joy. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him to change his ways or suffer a grim fate in the afterlife. Over the course of one Christmas Eve night, visits from the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future lead Scrooge on a profound journey of redemption.
Scrooge! The Musical features book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, whose score earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score for the film adaptation. The production is directed by James Michael McHale, music directed by Lex Leigh, and choreographed by Niko Montelibano.

Joining Goodrich are numerous returning artists from last year’s production, including Matt Takahashi as Bob Cratchit, Winston Peacock as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Kayley Stallings as the Ghost of Christmas Past, and Justin Ryan as Jacob Marley, alongside artists new to the production including Spike Pulice as Nephew Harry and Emma Gibson as Mrs. Cratchit.
Critics raved about last year’s production. StageSceneLA called it “a nonstop treat,” the Orange County Register awarded it 3.5 out of 4 stars as “a gloriously well sung show,” and Fanboy Nation praised it as “a warm, engaging, beautifully made production.”
