“For the first time in forever,” experience the musical phenomenon which has taken the world by storm. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts & McCoy Rigby Entertainment presents the Los Angeles regional theatre premiere of “Disney’s FROZEN: The Broadway Musical”.
Includes all the film’s beloved songs along with new music written exclusively for the stage. In a beautiful, mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, Princess Anna (Cailen Fu) and Elsa (Jenna Lea Rosen) grow up sheltered inside their castle, isolated from the world, and increasingly distanced from each other. After only having met on the day Elsa is crowned queen, Princess Anna accepts a marriage proposal from Prince Hans (Garrett Canyon).
The magical powers Queen Elsa has desperately tried to conceal from her sister take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on Arendelle, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find Elsa and bring her home, with the help of hardworking ice harvester Kristoff (Alexander Mendoza), his loyal reindeer Sven (Thomas Whitcomb), and a happy-go-lucky snowman named Olaf (Mark Ivy). Full of magic, humor, and a stunning musical score, “Disney’s FROZEN: The Broadway Musical” is a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the real meaning of true love.
Disney’s FROZEN is “snow” exception at La Mirada when it comes to bringing out their best work with reproductions of Disney on Broadway. Disney’s FROZEN is the latest adaptation to the La Mirada stage after huge successes with “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, and “Mary Poppins”. The recognizable songs from the animated film gets a fresh take on the stage.
New songs especially created for this adaptation range from enhancing core emotional moments fleshing out Elsa’s internal thoughts and fears, a duet about love between Anna and Kristoff, and an ensemble piece to complement the lively spirit of wandering Oaken (Daniel Dawson). The unmistakable vocals and live musical score calls the audience back to the world of Arendelle in an avalanche of whimsy and heart.
The expansive costumes sweeps between authentic townsfolk, rural fur for warmth , ceremonial affair, and to the crystal clean dazzle of Elsa’s iconic sparkling icicle dresses. The familiar will attract long time fans of the movie, but the exclusive stage songs is a reminder of the splendor of what captivated audiences in the first place.
Music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Book by Jennifer Lee. Based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. Musical direction by Brad Gardner. Direction and Choreography by Dan Knechtges.
