Attention millennials – Lite Brite is not only still around, but an entire immersive experience dedicated to the retro toy has opened in Santa Monica just in time for the holidays.

We were invited to preview Lite Brite: Worlds of Wonder just before opening and we were wowed with the mix of hands-on fun and digital wizardry created by Secret Location. After successful engagements in Toronto and Sydney, Lite Brite: Worlds of Wonder is now ready for Angelenos.

Expect to spend at least an hour wandering from room to room, enjoying Lite Brites created by renowned artists, life-size digital arcade games, a gorgeous 360 degree cinematic space, and of course, Lite Brites for everyone to play with. Over 5 million Lite Brite pegs are used in the experience, an hour of immersive footage was created specifically for the 360 LED Theater, and 12 unique playable games can be found throughout.

“We love to see the evolution and success of LITE-BRITE: Worlds of Wonder, which started as a 60-minute immersive show with gamification all in one room and has now expanded into a larger footprint at Santa Monica Place, featuring 11 interactive rooms, 360° immersive theater and game zone,” says Matt Proulx, Senior Vice President of Experiences, Partnerships, and Music at Hasbro. “This transformation showcases the power of this 50-year-old brand that has sparked creativity, ignited imagination, and inspired countless works of art.”

Our daughter’s favorite part was the massive enveloping arcade game. Multiple players use their feet to launch rockets at meteors, send dinosaurs to alien space ships, and use bubbles to open treasure chests.

Our favorite part was being turned into a Lite Brite portrait and launched into one of the digital projection walls with the other Lite Brite creatures. Be sure to scan the QR code
