Something wicked is streaming today. Hulu’s chilling new documentary CLOWN PANIC premieres today, October 12, as part of Huluween — arriving just in time for the 10th anniversary of the bizarre killer clown sightings that gripped America in 2016.
When children in a small South Carolina community reported clowns lurking in the woods in 2016, few took them seriously. But as sightings multiplied across the country, what began as a strange local story spiraled into school lockdowns, police investigations, and a full-blown national media frenzy. Featuring chilling archive footage, viral internet videos, and revealing interviews with witnesses, law enforcement, clowns, and cultural commentators, the film examines how fear, social media, and modern America collided at a moment of deep national anxiety — and why its echoes still resonate today.
The documentary comes from Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Ed Perkins, produced by Lightbox’s Jonathan Chinn (Emmy winner) and Simon Chinn, with Suzanne Lavery serving as executive producer.
