The ocean is calling — Disney’s breathtaking live-action Moana streams exclusively on Disney+ October 21, 2026.
Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as the endearing demigod Maui, while Catherine Laga‘aia stars as the courageous wayfinder Moana in the all-new live-action reimagining of the beloved animated adventure.
The original animated film remains the most-watched movie of all time on Disney+, with over 1.5 billion hours streamed globally — and now families can return to that world and experience the iconic story in a whole new way, with unforgettable music, breathtaking imagery, and inspirational characters. Alongside classics like “How Far I’ll Go” and “I Am Moana,” the film features the new song “Along The Way” — perfect for a family movie night sing-along.
In the film, Moana answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.

Moana x Heal the Bay Beach Cleanup
To celebrate the October 21 streaming debut, Disney is teaming up with Heal the Bay — the nonprofit dedicated to keeping the coastal waters and watersheds of Greater Los Angeles safe, healthy, and clean — for a special community beach cleanup on Saturday, October 17 at Santa Monica Beach.
Hundreds of volunteers and their families are invited to roll up their sleeves for the Moana-themed “Nothin’ But Sand” cleanup, followed by a special performance led by Moana choreographer and associate producer Tiana Nonosina Liufau, plus photo opportunities, giveaways, and more.
