Disney+ Ignites Star Wars Day with Electrifying New Trailer and Poster for “The Acolyte” – A Dark and Thrilling New Chapter in the Galaxy Far, Far Away
In celebration of the beloved Star Wars fan holiday, Disney+ has unleashed an exhilarating first look at Lucasfilm’s “The Acolyte,” a suspense-filled mystery-thriller series set during the waning days of the High Republic era. The series premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Tuesday, June 4, with a two-episode debut.
“The Acolyte” delves into a shadowy corner of the Star Wars universe, where a chilling crime sets a seasoned Jedi Master (Lee Jung-Jae) on a collision course with a shadowy figure from his past (Amandla Stenberg). Their investigation pulls them into a dangerous game of deception, where hidden truths and malevolent forces cast doubt on everything they thought they knew.
The series boasts a powerhouse cast including Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Visionary filmmaker Leslye Headland (“Russian Doll”) serves as the series creator, writer, director (for the premiere episodes), and executive producer. Headland is joined by an acclaimed executive producer team including Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef.
The haunting atmosphere of “The Acolyte” is further amplified by the chilling score composed by award-winning composer Michael Abels (“Get Out,” “Us”).
