Jane Austen’s endearing novel “Emma” is faithfully translated to the delight of literature and music lovers. Taking place at rural England in early 1800s, one’s social position is determined by economic and social life. The story deals with social class, the role of women, courtship, and marriage of the time. Emma Woodhouse (Mandy Foster), an ambitious but misguided matchmaker, sets off on comic entanglements and heartwarming discoveries within a scattered web of manipulation and unbridled ambition.
She takes more interest in matching others than her own personal well being. Her determined eyes draws attention to her latest project in her dear friend Harriet Smith (Sadie Alexander). Emma’s attempts face challenges with Harriet falling for another prospect not aligned with Emma’s plans. Even Emma dodges and flusters over her own minimal love life. George Knightley (Jeff Lowe) ridicules yet admires Emma’s disposition. Equally strained by his estranged familial relationship and perplexing desire to Emma.

From a whimsical Snow Day and a Krampus-themed celebration to Breakfast with Santa and festive scavenger hunts, this one-of-a-kind event is perfect for making unforgettable holiday memories. The nearly two-week celebration begins on December 12th with the Lighting of the Stacks ceremony, where guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas socks and join in the festivities. As the ship’s towering stacks light up the night sky, visitors will enjoy live entertainment, seasonal treats, and the chance to bask in the holiday spirit aboard one of Southern California’s most iconic venues.

Adding an eerie twist to the festivities, the second day of Queen Mary Christmas on Friday, December 13th, invites guests to Krampus After Dark. This chillingly festive evening features Krampus-themed activations, a Q&A with the writer of Krampus, and a Spooktacular Bazaar showcasing unique creations from local artisans.
For families, December 19th is a must-see with the Snow Day & Train Ride, where the area in front of the ship will transform into a snowy wonderland. Formerly the site of the summer Night Market, this space will now host a magical winter experience complete with frosty fun, perfect photo opportunities, and an iconic holiday train ride, making it a day to remember for all ages.
Other highlights include Breakfast with Santa on December 14th and 21st, where families can enjoy a delightful meal and photo opportunities with Santa himself. December 14th also features the White-Out Winter Wonderland Market, where guests can explore artisan vendors, enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus, and decorate cookies with Santa’s elves. For adults, December 15th and 19th bring a creative twist with Brushes and Bubbly painting sessions, alongside festive activities like Eggnog Tasting. On December 20th guests can participate in a cozy Blanket Making Class and Holiday Bingo.
In addition to the unique nightly themes, every evening of the 12 Days of Christmas includes holiday favorites like cookie decorating, gingerbread house building, and stocking decorating. Families can cozy up in one of the ship’s festive salons or sip on steaming cocoa from the Hot Cocoa Bar. Little ones will love story time with Mrs. Claus in the Starboard Lounge, while dance parties and carolers spread cheer throughout the ship.

Universal Pictures has announced Christmas Day sing-along screenings of Wicked, as the box-office phenomenon continues its record-shattering theatrical run. More than 1,000 theaters throughout the United States, Canada and select international markets will host interactive sing-along screenings, which will feature on-screen lyrics and a special introduction from stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
The announcement arrives as Wicked continues to shatter box-office records, becoming the highest-grossing Broadway musical film adaptation in domestic box-office history, surpassing a benchmark held by Grease for 46 years.
Featuring Grammy and Oscar® winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz’s songs from the generation-defining stage musical, the film’s groundbreaking soundtrack has made history, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. With more than 270 million global streams, it has achieved the largest streaming week ever for a stage-to-screen musical film soundtrack and stands as the No. 1 soundtrack debut of the decade. A special sing-along version of the soundtrack will be released digitally on December 20 through Verve Records/Republic Records, coinciding with the theatrical sing-along screenings.

Disney’s streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu are home to a total of 23 combined nominations. Hulu garnered 19 nominations, including nods for Hulu Original “Only Murders in the Building,” FX series “Shōgun” and “The Bear,” leading all television series with five nominations, and ABC’s “Abbott Elementary.” Disney+ received four nominations for titles including Marvel Television’s “Agatha All Along.”

Disney has released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the heartwarming original, A Disney Holiday Short: The Boy & The Octopus. Award-winning director Taika Waititi provides exclusive commentary about the magic he experienced creating this short, offering insight into his goals for casting, filming locations, and the emotional connection he wanted audiences to form with this story.
Since its release last month on a variety of platforms, including YouTube and Disney+, The Boy & The Octopus has received over 75 million views worldwide and an overwhelmingly positive response from viewers celebrating the incredible storytelling. (watch the full short below)
“I was struck by just how magical and beautiful the story was. It’s a simple tale of a boy on holiday and he goes swimming and then meets an unexpected friend in the least expected place. I love the idea of these two characters from completely different worlds who are looking for connection,” said Taika Waititi.
Here is additional information behind the creation of the short:
The melodic rendition of “Part of Your World” from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid (1989) that can be heard throughout the short was recorded live by a 60-piece orchestra and mixed in the legendary Abbey Road recording studio specifically for this short. The song has such a flexible melody that it allowed Toby Williams, the music supervisor from Leland, to play with the song in different ways throughout the film to adapt to the range of emotions.
This year’s Disney holiday short was brought to life in two stunning locations including a beautiful beach in Mallorca, Spain, which was the perfect setting to capture the warmth and magic of the story’s seaside scenes. Additional scenes were shot in Prague, where the city’s unique character added depth and richness to the short.
Blub Blub was the unofficial name given to the octopus by Taika Waititi and the production team.
There was an incredible level of detail in the VFX to capture intricate movements and transformations to create an octopus that felt both realistic and emotionally expressive with eight tentacles that could move independently, shapeshift, and even change colors. “Anytime that we’re making a character there’s always challenges. Aside from having eight tentacles, octopuses can shape shift, they can change color on their skin. We built in all sorts of crazy things,” said Adam Droy from Untold Studios, the VFX creative agency for this short.
Disney has announced a number of exciting enhancements and expansions on the horizon for D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, including details about new events coming in 2025, as well as returning fan-favorite offerings like Destination D23, which will be bigger than ever before when it returns to Walt Disney World Resort on August 29 through 31, 2025. Michael Vargo, head of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, announced the exciting slate of events that fans can look forward to as well as details around the new membership offerings. Becky Cline, Director of the Walt Disney Archives, and Disney Legend Don Hahn were also there to talk to Members about what they can look forward to in 2025. Following the film, guests were treated to a tour of Walt Disney Animation Studios, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the award-winning creative engine.
“We are always looking for ways to give fans more of what they want,” said Michael Vargo. “From signature events to new virtual offerings that dive deeper into the Disney vaults and allow more D23 Members to participate, we are excited to bring all of this and more in 2025.”

These in-person events will alternate between Orlando, FL, and the greater Los Angeles, CA, area, taking fans deeper into unique topics such as a celebration of the Walt Disney Archives’ 55th anniversary, a retrospective of the Disneyland® Resort throughout the years with “Disneyland: Fond Memories of the Past” presented by Director of the Walt Disney Archives, Becky Cline, and more to be announced.
Virtual Presentations in theD23 Gold Theater: Each month, the new D23 Gold Theater Series will allow fans to interact with and watch live and prerecorded digital presentations featuring incredible speakers, talent, and magic makers from across the worlds of Disney. The inaugural presentation debuts in January and will revisit the fan-favorite presentation from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2024, “Jolly Holiday: A D23 Musical Celebration of Richard M. Sherman.” This incredible session will embark on a melodic journey down memory lane featuring beloved Disney Legends, luminaries, and performers including John Stamos, Hayley Mills, Ashley Brown, Michael James Scott, and more. Additional live programs will be announced at a later date, including “The Happiest Place on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland” with Disney Legend Don Hahn and author Chris Merritt, as well as the fan-favorite “Weird Disney,” hosted by Director of the Walt Disney Archives, Becky Cline.
Official Tour of the Walt Disney Studios: D23 is thrilled to offer more of its year-round Official Walt Disney Studios Lot Walking Tours and, due to popular demand, more tours and dates will be offered than ever before. These D23 Member exclusive tours give fans a rare opportunity to visit some of the iconic locations across the Disney Studios Lot including the original Animation Building, historic soundstages, Legends Plaza, the Walt Disney Archives, and more.
Walt Disney’s Los Angeles Tour: The Walt Disney Archives, in partnership with D23, announced a new tour experience designed exclusively for D23 Gold Members. Walt Disney’s Los Angeles Tour will take guests to many of the famous places that Walt Disney frequented in Southern California including some locations of personal significance to Walt, a tour of Walt’s offices at the Disney Studios Lot along with an Ink & Paint Building Experience, and a signature meal at one of Walt’s regular restaurants. Tour details and dates will be announced in 2025.
Anniversary Celebrations: In 2025 D23 will celebrate several milestone anniversaries of movies, shows, and theme parks with exciting in-person events across various cities. Some of the fan favorites D23 Members can look forward to celebrating include the Disneyland Resort (70th), Home Alone (35th), A Goofy Movie (30th), Toy Story (30th), The Emperor’s New Groove (25th), and more.

Throughout December, get ready to celebrate the holidays with a variety of events and offerings during D23’s Warm Seasons Greetings.

A first look at Disney’s live-action “Snow White” has been revealed, with a captivating trailer and poster that hint at the film’s enchanting world and musical delights.
From the producer and executive producer of “Wicked,” Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff, and director Marc Webb (“The Amazing Spider-Man”) comes “Disney’s Snow White,” a live-action musical reimagining of the studio’s classic 1937 film.
The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”) in the title role and Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”) as her Stepmother, the Evil Queen. Disney’s Snow White opens exclusively in theaters March 21, 2025.
