The first trailer and poster for Disney’s highly anticipated live-action reimagining of “Moana,” starring Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as the trickster demigod Maui has debuted.
The trailer provides a first look at the live-action adventure, introducing audiences to the majestic island and vibrant people of Motunui; the shapeshifting demigod Maui; the intimidating yet adorable tribe of Kakamora; and Lagaʻaia as wayfinder Moana, who sings the powerful line “I Am Moana.”
In addition to Lagaʻaia and Johnson, the “Moana” cast includes Auckland, New Zealand, native John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Samoan-New Zealander Frankie Adams, who portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen, from Bay of Islands, New Zealand, as Moana’s revered Gramma Tala.

“Shucked” stalks up on an earful of amusing puns and a hootenanny of talented singing and boastful dancing but falls short on attention grabbing pull. The humor jam packed full of corn puns by the storytellers and innuendo from the main cast are sorted between the sleep inducing songs. Production value is professional enough against music that head nods slipping into heavy eyelids. The shock of returning to the stage able to piece together any gaps that may have been missed felt like tuning in and out of a TV soap opera.
The history of a small farm town that prides itself in growing fields of corn and manufacturing corn based products such as whiskey. Storytellers (Maya Lagerstam and Joe Moeller) share a tale of a significant event that occurred in which just before the wedding of Beau (Nick Bailey) and Maiz (Danielle Wade), the local corn stalks began to mysteriously wilt. If livelihood is to continue to thrive in the town, the corn must return back to health.
The last option is for a local to venture out to the real world to seek aid. Maizy shows little hesitation drawn to the calling but Beau doubts the answer is in the outside world. Maizy is soon attracted to city-slicker Gordy (Quinn Vanantwerp). Gordy arrives under false pretenses to solve the corn problem while really hiding out to pay off his looming debt. Maizy and Beau are not alone even when not together. Maizy’s cousin Lulu (Miki Abraham) and Beau’s friend, Peanut (Mike Nappi) latch on with their own set of advice and comic spirit.
“Shucked” is no corn hole in one as it hits and misses on gags and retaining drifting interest. A contemporary twist of “The Music Man” meets “Oklahoma”. The talent stands out holding the forgettable songs with chuckling word play. Nick Bailey as Beau gives it his all through emotional voice and body expressions. The storytellers in the end get sweetly folded into the main story that ties up their place with the characters.
For those with a musical hankering for country living and farm raised goodness to be expected from the likes of “Knott’s Berry Farm”, “Shucked” will satisfy that tasty mouth watering craving. Gird your loins. 20th Century Studios has unveiled its first glimpse of “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”
Almost twenty years after making their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.
The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Disney and Pixar have debuted the first teaser trailer and an all-new poster for “Toy Story 5,” and this time, it’s Toy meets Tech.

Santa’s North Pole Adventure: Guests are invited to embark on a journey to the North Pole where they can visit with Santa in his bungalow and Mrs. Claus in her bakery. Disney has released the official trailer for the upcoming animated holiday special “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol.” The Emmy-winning franchise returns after more than a decade, following Christmas elves Lanny and Wayne as their holiday mission unfolds with many merry mishaps. The fourth installment continues the holiday adventures of an elite team that prepares homes worldwide for Santa’s arrival.

“Peter Pan Goes Wrong” in all the right ways. A grand spectacle bridging old school theatrics with high-flying thrills of laughter, suspense, and wholesome fun. La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts is undoubtedly the best theater to bring “Peter Pan Goes Wrong.” Not only for its highly quality Broadway style stage productions, but the theater sharing a long time history for the original “Peter Pan” musical back in 1997 as its first national tour show earning Tony nominations.
Its original lead performer, Cathy Rigby, returning to Never Land albeit in a naturally respectful role as “The Narrator”. Not only that, but the 72 year old also plays a pirate and lost boy, scrambling on and off a moving stage. The nimble living legend also navigates a troublesome wooden chair tapping to her experience as a two-time Olympic gymnast, the first American woman to win a medal in world competition. Cathy Rigby last played Peter Pan in the 2013 “farewell” production after 3,000 performances as the boy who never grew up. For theater fans waiting patiently for Cathy Rigby to be involved in “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” at the La Mirada Theatre is quite the understatement and immensely satisfying.
Having missed my chance to see Cathy Rigby in her farewell tour, her magical curtain call gave me enough chilling goosebumps to more than make up for lost time as a musical theater enthusiast. And to learn some set pieces, props, and costumes from the “Peter Pan” Broadway production making appearances in “Peter Goes Wrong” just makes the experience even richer. Could anyone imagine this precious gem on a national tour?
“Peter Pan Goes Wrong” at La Mirada is a must-see, don’t miss event for the ages. Even if you’ve seen this show before, there’s nothing else like it when La Mirada Theatre is involved. There’s plenty of humor for everyone where any and all mishaps could land face first on the stage in front of a live audience.
Grander, bolder, and craftier than “The Play That Goes Wrong”. Adults would enjoy the nerve wrecking line flubs, backstage drama, and nostalgia for Cathy Rigby’s return to the stage. Children will laugh at the high jinks of toppling set pieces, untimely costume changes, and engage with a familiar story and characters in a new fairy tale light. Cathy Rigby is the magic that makes pixie dust extra special.

Disney has released the official trailer for “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie,” premiering Nov. 14 on Disney+ and Hulu.
