The show is set after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and will take place before the rise of The First Order. In the shambles of the fallen Empire, fans will follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Far from the authority of the New Republic, anything goes. The series is written and produced by Favreau, who will be joined by a wide array of directors to bring the new show to life and into this galaxy. Dave Filoni, creator of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and the new show, Star Wars: Resistance, will be the director for the pilot episode.
Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.
