November 19th, 2021 marked a historic day for the Legoland California Resort as they celebrated their 19th Annual Lego Christmas Tree Lighting sponsored by the Hallmark Channel. This year they were able to pull out all the festivities – including a surprise guest!
The ceremony took place towards the back of the park in Fun Town where the 30 foot high tree can be seen composed of 245,000 green DUPLO bricks and even more LEGO bricks to create the ornaments it is adorned with. A band played Christmas music and holiday classics to get us all in the spirit.
We were then treated to our special guest for the evening to help us light the tree, Lacey Chabert who is best known for her award-winning role as Claudia Salinger in “Party of Five,” her role as Gretchen Wieners from “Mean Girls,” and from her roles in more than 26 Hallmark Channel movies.
She was also presented with a special LEGO ornament in the shape of a star as well as an ornament of two racing flags to celebrate Legoland California Resorts newest addition coming in Spring 2022: a new Build and Race attraction in conjunction with Ferrari!
Before we could light the tree the Legoland California Resort, on behalf of Lacey Chabert, introduced the City of Hope charity and a check for $10,000 for the Pediatrics Department. City of Hope is based in Los Angeles and works with children and families of those who have cancer and other cancer related illnesses. You can find out more about them here: www.cityofhope.org.
The festivities would not be complete without an appearance from the jolly man himself – Santa Claus! Once everyone was in place, it was time to light the tree! The ceremony included fireworks and the lighting of over 11,000 twinkling LED lights synchronized to the music. After the lighting, we also took the time to do some shopping as there are some very cute Lego® sets to pick up – exclusive to the park!
The holidays are officially here at the Legoland California Resort. You can visit now through January 2nd to experience the magic of the season. Make sure you check out all of the events and offerings including a new daytime show Mrs. Claus’ Gingerbread Bakery where you can giggle and cheer as Mrs. Claus and her gingerbread helpers bake sweets for the elves!
There will also be the life-sized Santa made of Lego Bricks for you to take your photo with we have loved to see in the past. All of these festivities are included in your park admission – including the Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party on Dec. 31! We hope you have a chance to “Build” new memories with your family this holiday season at the Legoland California Resort!
