Marvel Studios announced this Tuesday that Black Panther will be releasing on digital May 8th and on Blu-Ray/4K formats on May 15th. The film is wrapping up a legendary box office reign, becoming the third highest grossing film of all time with a total of over $665 million.

Leading up to the next Marvel Release of Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther has become a cultural phenomenon and crowd favorite. Various collectors editions and packaging will also be available through vendors Target and Best Buy. Here’s a preview of the features exclusive to this home release.

Suicide Squad- Hell To Pay: Blu-Ray Review

The Suicide Squad is on the scene in Warner Bros Animation’s latest DC Super Heroes release. The story follows Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, and company in a chase to the death for an elusive artifact that has the ability to shield the owner from the pits of hell. The artifact takes its shape as a “Get Out of Hell Free” card, that is protected by a wannabe super hero and through directions from Amanda Waller herself.

The picture overall is a clever one shot that hits home for true fans of the Suicide Squad. There’s plenty of conflict, action, and gags to keep the audience entertained. This is part of a series of projects Warner Bros Animation have spearheaded in hopes of creating a more gritty and adult friendly comic book story. It hits the mark, no pun intended. Yet, overall, the premise of the artifact does come off a bit silly, even for Suicide Squad standards.

The artifact is rumored to be ancient and heavily sought after by some of the oldest villains in the DC Universe. Yet, it’s a plastic card and sounds like it comes straight out of a game of Monopoly. It can be hard to take serious as a central focal point, but still, there’s plenty of interesting things going on with Deadshot and his crew to keep you from focusing too much on that.

The film features a heavy armory of voice talent that include Christian Slater, Tara Strong, and Vanessa Williams. Strong has been the voice of Harley Quinn since the character’s inception in Batman the Animated Series, going on to voice Quinn for the majority of DC’s animated projects. Having her onboard for this feature provides an extra seal of approval and gives an extra punch to finish it all off.

The features also provide some quality content, pulling from the DC Vault to tease some older work including Young Justice and Batman. Full episodes of two major DC series are on this disc, which is a fun surprise worth a quick binge. The producers and minds behind the feature also talk about classic film influences and plot devices, which is a huge surprise. Though the average comic book nerd may not put too much stock in the research, it’s something worth taking a look at for understanding their direction as well as provides a quick lesson in classic film narrative.

Lucasfilm has released a full length trailer for their upcoming release, Solo: A Star Wars Story, providing initial plot details, a glimpse at Paul Bettany’s new crime boss centric character, as well as our our first look at the contrast between Harrison Ford’s iconic portrayal of Han Solo and newcomer, Alden Ehrenreich. Released during ABC’s prime time coverage this past Sunday, Lucasfilm is finally playing their hand and giving viewers a more in depth look at the latest anthology film after months of secrecy and rough press coverage due to directing changes and minimal marketing.

The trailer takes you into the world of young Solo, who has yet to make a name for himself, learning his way around the world he would call his home by the time we encounter him in the Mos Eisley Cantina years later during the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. A few key sequences in this trailer focus on discovering Solo’s true intentions, as he is both questioned by Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke) and warned about the path he is about to lead by his mentor, Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson).

Will this origin story provide more depth to the smuggler, providing fresh perspective and motivation? Qi’Ra may know more than meets the eye. In a world that already feels Solo’s character is established and well known, it is essential that this film creates those layers without pulling fans too far away from their comfort zones.

The good news is, fans will get more to speculate around the falcon, as the highly talked about gambling scene that leads to Solo winning the ship from Lando was featured. The iconic ship has become a household name, which can be acknowledged its own character in the Star Wars mythos.

Other memorable moments include more screen time with Lando, played by Donald Glover. He is proclaimed as “the greatest smuggler in the galaxy”, and definitely holds his own. Glover is large, in charge, and confident. The more you see, the more it is apparent Glover will be a standout in this film. Though, the trick will be to make sure he doesn’t overpower his costar. What was noticeable throughout the trailer is that both Glover and Ehrenreich’s interpretations don’t appear to be carbon copies of their predecessors. This may be a completely unique situation, which will definitely be interesting to see unfold when the film debuts.

The film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany. Lucasfilm has also revealed a new poster, which features Solo and the entire crew in the style of the falcon’s cockpit. Solo: A Star Wars Story will release on May 25th.

Universal Studios Hollywood Celebrates Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary

“Hold onto your butts!”

Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed a special event to honor the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park. The event will take place over two days, which will include special exhibits, unique photo opportunities, a fan costume event, live entertainment, character meet and greets, and after hours access to Jurassic Park- The Ride.

All participating guests will receive a special commemorative lanyard, unlimited access to all Jurassic themed elements of the resort, including the Gyrosphere that was featured in Jurassic World, original dinosaur maquettes, costume displays, and an interactive expo area.

The event will also feature a private anniversary screening of the iconic film at the Universal City Walk. Two ticket options will be available. For event admission only, $69 will provide after hours access to the park and screening. For those who want to explore the park throughout the day, $129 will gain you access to the entire resort along with the evening festivities. The celebration will take place on May 11th and 12th.

Toy Story 4 Coming to Theaters Next Summer

Pixar announced this past Friday that Toy Story 4 will be coming to the big screen next June! Slated for a summer opening, Pixar is keeping the excitement alive leading up to the big comeback of their flagship franchise. Back in 1995, the original Toy Story was a smash success, leading to a film trilogy, television spinoffs, and seasonal shorts.

After recently celebrating the film’s 20th anniversary in 2015, Toy Story has become one of the most recognizable franchises in animation history. A teaser image was posted across Disney Pixar Social Media for the new film, featuring “Post It” notes.

This is the first real tease at the upcoming film. Though no official plot details have been released, there’s bound to be plenty of buzz around this latest development. Toy Story 4 is slated to release on June 21st. Stay tuned for more details!

Disneyland Annual Passholder Popcorn Bucket Revealed for Pixar Fest

The Green Aliens have landed at the Disneyland Resort for Pixar Fest and are bringing an exclusive Annual Passholder popcorn bucket with them to celebrate the festivities. From April 24th to May 24th, the premium bucket can be purchased for $20.

The bucket will be part of the Annual Passholder Refill Promotion, that will allow unlimited $1 refills through June 21st of this year. This item will fly away fast, so make sure to grab yours while you can!

Mobile Ordering Coming to Disneyland Food Locations

Disneyland may be getting shorter food lines with a newly announced initiative to bring mobile ordering to the official Disneyland App this year. Similar to services already provided in Walt Disney World, Disneyland’s latest grub update will allow users to order in advance while visiting both Disneyland Disney California Adventure Park. The service, which has not been given any release details, will only be available to park guests as hotel dining locations do not appear to be included.

Mobile ordering will be available at select fast and quick service locations. Will any of the Pixar Fest offerings be part of that list? More details to come!

Orders can be made through the app with a valid debit or credit card. Any Disney Gift Card purchases will have to be made in person at the dining location rather than through the app. Disneyland Annual Passholders will be able to use their discounts when ordering.

The new service will also have the option to prepare your order when you arrive. By telling the app you are at the location, meal prep will start so you can receive your food fresh and ready to go. Once finished, a push notification will be sent to you directly and food can be picked up at new mobile ordering signs which will be placed at each location.

Disneyland Monorail Suits Up for Pixar Fest

The iconic Disneyland Monorail will be getting the Pixar treatment next week when Pixar Fest begins, featuring one of a kind designs that follow some of our most popular Pixar movie moments.

The Disney Parks Blog shared some of the exciting images of the newly enhanced monorail system. The red monorail train will also be dressing up for the celebration soon, though details have not been announced on which Pixar story will be showcased.

Starting on April 13th, Pixar Fest will be in full swing with special food offerings, entertainment, and unique experiences. This will mean the return of the electrifying Paint the Night Parade, which will stepping off in Disney California Adventure for the first time ever. A new fireworks spectacular, “Together Forever”, will also be debuting over in Disneyland Park. A special sneak peak video was released by Disney Parks and Resorts, which you can view below!

Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port will receive a Toy Story “Pizza Planet” themed overlay, which was teased to have some fresh menu options that include a green alien specialty pizza that includes pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms. For those who want to be a bit more adventurous, a cheeseburger pizza will also be available that includes ketchup, mustard, caramelized onions, diced tomato, slider patties, pickles, and a house made burger sauce.

Doctor Strange to Join Marvel Heroes in Disney California Adventure

The Disney Parks Blog announced this past Thursday that Doctor Strange will be joining the ranks of Marvel heroes at Disney California Adventure. He will be a unique meet and greet experience that will surely be full of personality.

Other meet and greets currently include Spiderman, Captain America, and King T’Challa’s Black Panther. This is one of many new developments at the Disneyland Resort that will bring more of the Marvel Universe into the Parks and Resorts experience. Last month, Disney Parks also revealed that the current Bugs Land area in Disney California Adventure will be set to be transformed into a super hero themed land that will include Spiderman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other key members of The Avengers Team.

The new land is slated to open in 2020, which means the larger than life kids area of Bugs Land will be soon a part of Disneyland’s yesteryear. As Bugs Land is the one area in the second California park that is toddler friendly, it will be interesting to see how Disneyland will take on the new themed area. Though one attraction already exists, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, we will have to wait and see until more is revealed.

“Stranger Things” Comes to Life at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights

For the first time ever, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore are partnering with Netflix to bring “Stranger Things” to life at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights” events. Fans of the series will get the chance to brave the Upside Down and confront the supernatural as each park debuts all-new mazes inspired by season one of the critically-acclaimed series.

The parallel universe, referred to as the Upside Down that terrorized the small town of Hawkins, Indiana in Netflix’s mega-hit “Stranger Things,” will bring the chittering, predatory Demogorgon to “Halloween Horror Nights” to stalk unwitting guests as they encounter iconic scenes, characters and environments from the mesmerizing series.

Working collaboratively with Netflix, along with the creators and executive producer of the blockbuster series—Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer and Shawn Levy, the mazes at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore will be authentic representations of “Stranger Things,” designed to transport guests into artfully recreated scenes and storylines. From the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, under the U.S. Department of Energy, to the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the eerie Upside Down woods oozing a shower of floating orb-like spores, the chilling new mazes will offer surprising twists and unexpected turns around every corner.

Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” is the ultimate Halloween event. For more than 25 years, guests from around the world have visited “Halloween Horror Nights” to become victims inside their own horror film. Multiple movie-quality mazes based on iconic horror television shows, films and original stories come to life season after season. And, the streets of each park’s event are transformed into highly-themed scare zones where menacing scare-actors lunge from every darkened corner.

Halloween Horror Nights begins Friday, September 14 in Hollywood and Orlando and on Friday, September 28 in Singapore. Additional details about the events will be revealed soon.
