Hallmark Channel and SiriusXM Kick Off “Countdown to Christmas”

Hallmark Channel and SiriusXM are launching a new 24/7 holiday music channel, Hallmark Channel Radio, which is scheduled to launch on Thursday, November 1 in conjunction with the network’s highly popular “Countdown to Christmas” programming event.

Hallmark Channel’s 24/7 “Countdown to Christmas” initiative has become an annual holiday tradition for millions of viewers nationwide, while SiriusXM offers an extensive lineup of holiday music channels across an array of genres. This year Hallmark Channel and SiriusXM are joining forces to bring the warmth and joy of the season to listeners across the country with Hallmark Channel Radio.

SiriusXM’s Hallmark Channel Radio will keep listeners in the holiday mood all day and all night with timeless Christmas carols and music introduced by top network talent including LeAnn Rimes, Holly Robinson Peete, Lacey Chabert, Danica McKellar, Kellie Pickler, and more. “Stranger Things” Maze Lights On Experience at Universal Studios Hollywood

For the first time, Universal Studios Hollywood offers guests a “lights on” walk-through experience of the all-new “Stranger Things” maze during the day, providing an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at how the Upside Down comes to life at “Halloween Horror Nights” from Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2. The self-guided tour of the movie-quality sets featured in the “Stranger Things” maze is included in the price of daytime admission to the theme park.

“Halloween Horror Nights” continues select nights now through Sunday, November 4, adding one more terrifying night due to popular demand.

Universal Studios Hollywood hosts first-ever kid-friendly Halloween celebration

Universal Studios Hollywood hosts its first-ever kid-friendly Halloween celebration, inviting all children 12 years of age and under to don creative costumes to Trick-or-Treat at the theme park along with some of their favorite characters on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 from 10 am to 4 pm.

Halloween-themed characters located throughout the theme park include Hello Kitty as The Bride of Frankenstein, Illumination’s Minion Monsters, SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, Scooby Doo and the gang, Curious George, Woody Woodpecker, Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy.

Other entertaining activities include a Halloween Party in the Plaza with a live DJ, music, games, and costume showcase. Also, Halloween treats decorating will be available for purchase. All children 12 years of age and under will receive a free carnival game voucher redeemable at Super Silly Fun Land, located adjacent to the “Despicable Minion Mayhem” ride or Krustyland’s Carnival Games, located adjacent to “The Simpsons™ Ride.”
The Halloween celebration is included in the price of theme park admission to Universal Studios Hollywood. A specially-designed activity map will be provided complimentary to help navigate the many memorably-ghoulish moments.

Imagine Dragons’ new music video debuts for Disney’s “Ralph Breaks the Internet”

Imagine Dragons, whose single “Natural” has spent eight weeks at No. 1 Alternative radio, appear in the arcade-based video (watch for the Disney Easter Eggs). In the movie, video-game bad guy Ralph struggles with his evolving friendship with fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz.

According to Imagine Dragons’ lead singer Dan Reynolds, the film’s emotional themes are reflected in the song “Zero.” “They are compelling because they are real to each of us, personally,” said Reynolds. “That journey of feeling like nothing and trying to realize and recognize your worth as a human is an important part of life. And given the distorted version of reality kids face online and the expectations that come with it, this struggle is real for so many people right now.”

Dave Meyers directed the music video. Meyers was recently recognized at the Video Music Awards for video of the year (“Havana” by Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug), best pop video (“No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande) and best visual effects (“All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA).

The music score is by Marc Shaiman and the film features all-new original songs with music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. The film also stars Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

Murder on the Orient Express Arrives at La Mirada Theatre

The heart-stopping and mysterious Agatha Christie classic, Murder on the Orient Express, has made its West Coast stop at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, bringing new chills and thrills to theatergoers just in time for Halloween. The play is part of La Mirada Theatre’s 25th Silver Anniversary season, starring Tony Amendola, Julia Aks, Hope Noel Bradley, Will Block, Anne Gee Byrd, Brad Culver, Christine Dunford, Zarah Mahler, Matthew Floyd Miller, Rachel Seiferth, and Time Winters.

The production marks the tale’s big debut as a full stage production. Adapted by Ken Ludwig and directed by Sheldon Epps, Murder on the Orient Express has a run time of just over 2 hours, allowing the story to flow at a smooth pace that neither feels rushed nor cut short. As expected from the venue, the production does not disappoint, bringing in only the best special effects, elaborate stage work, and top-notch acting. Once again, La Mirada Theatre proves you don’t need to venture into the heart of Hollywood or hit up the streets of Broadway to see high-quality theatre.

Amendola steals the show as the cunning Hercule Poirot, but is met with stiff competition from his entire ensemble, most notably Christine Dunford’s over the top performance as Helen Hubbard. Every player builds off one another and finds a way to keep things fresh, sending the audience into unexpected laughter and frivolity. For a dark and twisted story about murder, deception, and intrigue, things were surprisingly lighthearted while retaining the gravity that death possesses. Nevertheless, it was a fun and engaging take on the classic, holding onto the roots of what makes the fatal train ride such a fun adventure after all these years.

Two ‘Great’ Holiday Premieres Part of ABC’s ’25 Days of Christmas’

The holidays are about to get a whole lot brighter with ABC’s immensely popular decorating competition series, “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” premiering MONDAY, NOV. 26 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST). Produced by Fremantle, the hit holiday series is back for a sixth season with returning celebrity judges: lifestyle expert Carter Oosterhouse and interior designer Taniya Nayak. Season 6 of “The Great Christmas Light Fight” showcases the wildest and most spectacular Christmas displays in America. In each one-hour episode, four families from all around the country decorate their homes to the extreme in the hopes of winning the coveted Light Fight trophy and a $50,000 prize, with a total of $300,000 given away for the season.
