Funko has announced the launch of its new premium collectible line, Project Fred. Derived from all things pop culture and nostalgia, the new collection stands as Funko’s first concentrated foray into the world of premium collectibles, expanding the Company’s product portfolio to touch and impact every level of collector – from casual to Funatic and beyond. Based on the iconic food mascot, Project Fred 01 – Bob’s Big Boy is a nod to Funko’s first product, the Wacky Wobbler.
Aiming to transform pivotal pop culture moments into tangible sources of fun and fandom for fans everywhere, Project Fred 01 – Bob’s Big Boy spotlights Freddy, Funko’s mascot, embodying some of the most nostalgic brands in pop culture, beginning with the food icon. The collectible is a substantial and sophisticated addition to a pop culture connoisseur’s display, standing at an impressive 11” tall. Adding to the collectability, only 750 of this hard vinyl item will be produced for this drop, and 75 of the figures will be a variant of Freddy in an alternate Bob’s Big Boy outfit. Priced at $295, each figure is encased in premium matte packaging, complete with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Aiding in Funko’s “fans-first” philosophy, Project Fred 01 – Bob’s Big Boy will be powered by EQL, the e-commerce end-to-end launch platform. Utilizing EQL’s proprietary drop structure, the platform helps brands get the world’s most in-demand products into the hands of passionate fans and makes launches more reliable, fair, and memorable.
“As we look beyond our 25th anniversary, we’re taking it back to where it all began with our first Wacky Wobbler by bringing Bob’s Big Boy and Funko together again for Project Fred,” said Mike Becker, Senior Vice President, of Creative & Entertainment.
Commemorating the launch, Funko, in conjunction with Bob’s Big Boy, held an event at the historical Bob’s Big Boy location in Burbank on February 27 with the restaurant takeover through February 28. Delivering fun right to local Funatics, the first 150 guests who attended on both days received a limited-edition pin.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are ready to enjoy a day with their friends while donning new swimwear that celebrates the iconic colors of Disney Cruise Line. Guests might notice the waves on Mickey’s hat, while the small print details on his shirt pay tribute to the first time he appeared on the water as Steamboat Willie. Minnie, on the other hand, is a ray of sunshine in her rainbow dress, adorned with sunglasses (complete with her signature bow) and a ship’s wheel on her ribbon belt.
Daisy Duck and Donald Duck are the quintessential beachgoers – while Daisy is hoping to enjoy a relaxing day sunbathing on the beach, Donald Duck is ready to snorkel and find all of his underwater friends (he even has some creatures hopping a ride on his floaties!). Daisy is fashionable, as always, in her lounge wrap dress, sunhat, and fanciful accessories complete with nautical nods.
Goofy is ready to play anything from beach volleyball, racket ball, fishing or just riding around the island with this colorful T-shirt, shorts, vest, and sun hat. Pluto is having fun celebrating all the other animals on the island, as well as those guests can find on the ship! Guests may recognize his fish collar design outside their stateroom.
While Goofy might be ready for a sun-soaked activity, Chip and Dale are ready for an adventure of their own! This iconic duo used materials they found around Castaway Cay to make their very own homemade pirate costumes, fashioning floaties into sashes and beach towels into pirate hats. They are still wearing swim trunks and floatie vests, however, because you never know where the adventure will take you!
Those planning a visit to Castaway Cay on an upcoming Disney cruise should be on the lookout for these brand-new looks!

FX on Hulu’s “Shogun” is a feast for the eyes but a mixed bag for the mind. This lavishly adapted James Clavell’s novel crackles with the clash of cultures, boasting meticulously recreated 1600s Japan and sweeping, cinematic visuals. Its ensemble cast does solid work, particularly Hiroyuki Sanada as the stoic and cunning Lord Toranaga – a thinly veiled take on real-life shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Where “Shogun” excels in spectacle, it stumbles narratively. Cosmo Jarvis’ Blackthorne, the shipwrecked Westerner caught between warring factions, is a conduit for the audience, but his emotional arc feels somewhat rushed. More damning is the pacing; the first half burns with intrigue, but the latter succumbs to melodrama, culminating in a final battle that feels spectacular but sacrifices thematic impact for brute force.
The portrayal of Japanese women is also a sore point. While Lady Mariko (Anna Sawai) is given some power amidst rigid social confines, too many women fall into predictable damsel or seductress tropes, undermining the otherwise nuanced political landscape.
“Shogun” often evokes comparisons to “Game of Thrones”, and while the scheming and occasional brutality align, it lacks that show’s morally grey complexity. There’s a clear delineation of “good” and “bad” that simplifies what could’ve been a fascinating exploration of cultural relativism.
Overall, “Shogun” is worth watching for those craving historical epics. It’s a testament to the production team’s skill, but those hoping for a true thinking person’s drama may feel like a samurai without his sword – equipped with the form, but lacking the sharpness.
The 10-episode limited series is now streaming on Hulu.

This spring, for the first time in almost a decade, comedy icon Jack Black returns to his role as Po, the world’s most unlikely kung fu master, with a hilarious, butt-kicking new chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s beloved action-comedy franchise: Kung Fu Panda 4.
After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black), is called upon by destiny to … give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.
That poses a couple of obvious problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position.
Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar® winner Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm.
So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Golden Globe winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox who gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable. In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.
The film features the voice talent of returning stars Academy Award® winner Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master, Shifu; James Hong (Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Po’s adoptive father, Mr. Ping; Academy Award® nominee Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, Li, and Emmy Award nominee Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and arch-nemesis. Oscar® winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) joins the ensemble as a new character, Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is directed by Mike Mitchell (DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls, Shrek Forever After) and produced by Rebecca Huntley (DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys). The film’s co-director is Stephanie Ma Stine (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power). In 2008, the Academy Award®-nominated 2008 inaugural chapter, Kung Fu Panda, became DreamWorks Animation’s highest-grossing original animated film and launched a franchise that has earned more than $1.8 billion at the global box office.
