Disney has announced that ‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition,’ an interactive art exhibit, will open in New York in honor of the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse. To begin the 90-day countdown, new brand and product collaborations spanning fashion, food, consumer electronics, toys, accessories and more are now available worldwide.
“As Walt said, ‘I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse’,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “From ‘The True Original Exhibition’ to a year-long celebration in our parks around the world, we are honoring the deep connection that families and fans have made with Mickey and Minnie Mouse for nearly a century.”
‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition’ is an immersive, pop-up art exhibition inspired by Mickey’s status as a ‘true original’ and his global impact on popular culture and art. From his beginning in black and white in Steamboat Willie to the technicolor world of more than 100 cartoon shorts, exhibition guests will step into an unforgettable journey of Mickey moments reimagined.
“We hope guests will enjoy the exhibition’s larger-than-life multimedia art installations, photo-worthy experiences and even a few surprises,” says Ken Potrock, President, Consumer Products Commercialization, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “We’ve partnered with the best muralists, sculptors, artists and designers to create original works that convey Mickey’s optimism and imagination.”
Curated by designer Darren Romanelli, the exhibit will feature exclusive original artwork from contemporary artists including Kenny Scharf, Amanda Ross-Ho and Shinique Smith, with more artists to be announced in the coming weeks. The experience will captivate the senses to surprise and delight guests, evoking the inspiration, creativity, and true original spirit of Mickey Mouse.
Romanelli is an LA-based designer and creative director known for creating series of customized, limited-edition clothing, furniture, and collectibles under the DRx moniker. “To me, Mickey is reminiscent of everything good from my childhood,” said Romanelli. “As I’ve come into my own as a designer, I feel a true sense of passion for this project. Every inch of the experience – from the artists participating to the different mediums featured to the building layout – was thought through with a level of detail and creativity we could only achieve with Mickey Mouse as our muse.”
About “Mickey: The True Original Exhibition”
Running from November 8, 2018 – February 10, 2019, ‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition’ will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 60 10th Avenue, New York. Tickets are available for $38 per person at Disney.com/MickeyTrueOriginal.
The 16,000-square-foot interactive experience will feature original work from renowned and emerging contemporary artists. Before the official opening in November, three artists will preview their installations in three pop-up locations across the country. The installations pay tribute to three iconic pieces of Mickey Mouse merchandise that have withstood the test of time – the Mickey Mouse watch, tee-shirt, and plush.
Kenny Scharf – Scharf rose to prominence in the early 1980s as a New York street artist and muralist. His interdisciplinary practice consisted of design, sculpture, installations, performance and video as well as painting. From now until September 1, Kenny’s installation will be on display at the Minnesota Street Project, located at 1275 Minnesota St in San Francisco. Inspired by one of Disney’s first licensed products, the Mickey Mouse watch, this Cosmic Cavern is an immersive, day-glo, fluorescent black light world. Kenny Scharf’s work is a surreal journey into his personal connection with the character and the timelessness of both Scharf and Mickey’s contributions to visual culture. Fans at home can experience a 360° tour of the installation at Disney.com/MickeyTrueOriginal.
Amanda Ross-Ho – Ross-Ho is a Los Angeles-based artist who has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally including solo exhibitions at Cherry and Martin and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles. She has presented large-scale commissioned public work at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, City Hall Park New York City and the Parcours Sector of Art Basel Switzerland. She will create a large-than-life classic Mickey tee to be on display during Art Expo in Chicago in September.
Shinique Smith – Known for her monumental sculptural works of bundled fabric and clothing, and her exuberant calligraphic collaged paintings, Smith has been featured in exhibitions and collections of prestigious venues such as Brooklyn Museum, Denver Art Museum, LACMA, MFA Boston, The Frist Center, Kemper Museum and The Whitney Museum among others. Shinique’s installation will honor the impact of the Mickey Mouse plush through decades and will be on display in Los Angeles in October.

Multi-talented young actors Dakota Lotus and Ruby Rose Turner lead the ensemble cast of “Coop & Cami Ask the World,” Disney Channel’s new live-action comedy. The series follows the antics of middle-school siblings Coop and Cami Wrather, who co-host a popular online show while balancing life, family and friendship, premiering FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, on Disney Channel (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT), in the DisneyNOW app and on Disney Channel VOD (12:01 a.m. local). The second episode will be available immediately following the series’ premiere (9:00 p.m. EDT) in the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel YouTube.
Made for kids and families, the live-action comedy follows Cooper (Lotus) and Cameron (Turner) Wrather, two middle-school siblings who co-host Coop’s online show “Would You Wrather.” With the help of their little brother Ollie and Coop’s best friend Fred, the duo present out-of-the-box questions and results to the show’s millions of followers (aka Wratherheads) who help them solve life problems – both mundane and madcap. Every day is an adventure in the Wrather’s hectic household, which also includes their older sister Charlotte and mom, Jenna. Whatever the question or result, Coop and Cami tackle adolescence and everyday family situations with humor and heart.
Also starring are Olivia Sanabia (“Just Add Magic”) as their older sister Charlotte; Albert Tsai (“Dr. Ken”) as Coop’s best friend Fred; Paxton Booth (“The Toy Box”) as their little brother Ollie and Rebecca Metz (“Better Things”) as their mom Jenna.
In the premiere episode, Cooper and Cami are preparing for their school dance when they learn their mom is ready to start dating again, now that it’s been two years since their father passed away. Much to their chagrin, her first date happens to be with their principal. Not sure what to do, they turn to the Wratherheads for advice, asking “Would you Wrather have your mom date the principal or take your mom to the school dance?”
Series creators Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin (“The Haunted Hathaways”) serve as executive producers and showrunners. The multi-camera series is also executive produced by Dan Cross & Dave Hoge (“The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex,” “The Thundermans”). Greg Schaffer (“Lab Rats: Elite Force”) is co-executive producer.

The series is a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.
Few films have excited a generation of moviegoers as much as Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park.” In honor of its 25th anniversary, Fathom Events and Universal Pictures are bringing Spielberg’s revolutionary 1993 action-adventure film back to movie theaters nationwide this September.
“Jurassic Park” will play in more than 500 movie theaters across the U.S. on Sunday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (local time); and at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, and Wednesday, September 19. Tickets to “Jurassic Park” screenings can be purchased online at www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices.
Screenings of “Jurassic Park” will be accompanied by a 17-minute “remake” of the movie created by fans around the world, who showcase both their passion for the prehistoric adventure and their boundless ingenuity, making this event a celebration both of the film and its legion of fans.
A defining pop-culture milestone of the 1990s, “Jurassic Park” is based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, with a screenplay by Crichton and David Koepp. The film utilized digital visual effects in ways moviegoers had never seen before. Actors Sam Neill and Laura Dern star as paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, who, along with mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are selected to tour an island theme park populated by cloned dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park’s mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they quickly find out otherwise when the predators break free and go on the hunt.
“Jurassic Park” also stars Ariana Richards, Joseph Mazzello, Wayne Knight, Martin Ferrero, BD Wong, Bob Peck and Samuel L. Jackson. Winner of three Academy Awards® – including Best Sound Effects, Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects the film was largely shot on location in Kauai, Hawaii, and features an iconic musical score by composer John Williams.
“‘Jurassic Park’ is a watershed achievement, a grand adventure, and a cinematic event all rolled into one,” said Tom Lucas, Fathom Events VP of Studio Relations. “Fathom Events is tremendously proud to work with Universal Pictures to celebrate the movie’s quarter-century milestone by presenting it, once again, on the big screen.”

Arrow Season 6 is in the books, completing another intense and emotional season that has left fans left guessing at what’s next for Oliver Queen and the rest of Team Arrow. Now it’s time to take a look at Warner Bros Season 6 Blu Ray set, following a small selection of special features that include an in depth look at the season’s epic crossover episodes, Comic Con panels, and more.
At first glance, it’s wonderful to have the entire crossover event on one set. It’s easily the best part of the collection, as it allows you to enjoy the entire Crisis on Earth X arc without any interruptions. Fans will also be able to hear more about the creative process behind making the crossover a reality in a unique round table discussion that will make the nerd in all of us rejoice.
The one downside to the discussion is that we don’t get to see any real behind the scenes footage or interviews with the cast and crew. When seeing the title and introduction for the feature, you’re made to believe you’ll get to jump right into the action only to discover that it’s just talking. It’s definitely a missed opportunity. Similarly, we don’t get any blooper reel or deleted scenes, which again limits what the set can provide in comparisons with the likes of other CW Blu-Ray releases like Black Lightning.
The features are also spread over four discs, though previews for each feature can be seen on each disc you watch. For those who are wanting to watch the entire feature set in one sitting, you may get frustrated, as you have to change discs for every single one. It’s a bit of an unconventional choice, as most sets have their special features all in one place. It’s a bit unclear why that decision was made, but fair warning for all those wanting to sit down and binge their way through the feature set.
Here’s a look at the full features list!
All 4 Crossover Episodes of Crisis on Earth X (Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow)
The Split of A Man: Deathstroke
Inside the Crossover: Crisis on Earth X.
Revenge in Ones and Zeros: The Story of Cayden James.
The Best of DC TV’s Comic Con Panels San Diego 2017.
The set overall has its ups and downs, bringing in a solid addition to your CW collection, but may leave you wanting a little bit more. Arrow will return along with the rest of the Arrowverse series this fall, bringing in another year of action packed episodes. Make sure to stay tuned, as we will be reviewing the rest of this year’s season Blu-Ray releases soon!
“Star Wars Resistance,” a new animated series that takes place prior to the events of “The Force Awakens,” takes flight with a one-hour premiere SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD, with subsequent airings on Disney XD.
The high-flying adventure series follows Kazuda Xiono (“Kaz”), a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. Following its U.S. debut, “Star Wars Resistance” will rollout globally on Disney Channels Worldwide.
In the one-hour premiere titled “The Recruit,” Poe and BB-8 assign newly-appointed spy Kaz to the Colossus, a massive aircraft re-fueling platform on an outer rim water planet, home to colorful new aliens, droids and creatures. While undercover, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s old friend Yeager, a veteran pilot who operates a starship repair shop run by his crew: Tam, Neeku and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket. Kaz soon finds himself in over his head with his new friend BB-8 as he’ll have to compete in dangerous sky races, keep his mission a secret from his newfound family, and avoid the danger of the First Order.
The voice cast includes Christopher Sean (“Days of Our Lives”) as Kazuda Xiono; Suzie McGrath (“East Enders”) as Tam Ryvora; Scott Lawrence (“Legion”) as Jarek Yeager; Myrna Velasco (“Elena of Avalor”) as Torra Doza; Josh Brener (“Silicon Valley”) as Neeku Vozo; Donald Faison (“Scrubs”) as Hype Fazon; Jim Rash (“Community”) and Bobby Moynihan (“DuckTales”) as Flix and Orka, respectively; Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as Poe Dameron; Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones”) as Captain Phasma; and Rachel Butera (“Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time”) as General Leia Organa.
Renowned Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) created the series; Athena Portillo (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”), Justin Ridge (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) and Brandon Auman (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) serve as executive producers; and Amy Beth Christenson (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) is art director.
