Enchanting Memories: A Magical Afternoon at “Disney Princess – The Concert”

Calling all Disney fans! If you need a dose of nostalgia and a sprinkle of royal magic, look no further than Disney Princess – The Concert! I had the pleasure of being invited by Disney Concerts for this delightful event, and it was a charming trip down memory lane.

The concert featured an all-star cast of Broadway and West End talents, including Alyssa Fox (standby ‘Elsa’ in Frozen, ‘Elphaba’ in Wicked); Hiba Elchikhe (‘Jasmine’ in Aladdin); and Syndee Winters (Broadway’s ‘Nala’ in The Lion King) who brought the beloved songs of Disney princesses to life with their incredible voices. From classics like “Part of Your World” to modern hits like “Let It Go,” the music was a heartfelt tribute to the timeless stories we all know and love.

Joining the trio for several numbers was Adam J. Levy (Moulin Rouge,) the show’s resident prince, hunchback, and associate producer.

Off the stage, fans of all ages came together, dressed in their finest royal attire, to sing along and share in the magic of Disney. Whole families came to celebrate these iconic characters and the messages of love and courage they represent. Concert apparel and merchandise were also on hand for those princesses looking for something more comfy than ballgowns.

Using large screen projection, lighting effects, and a healthy dose of pixie dust at the end, Disney Princess – The Concert gives audiences a fun presentation of some of the most amazing songs in the award-winning Disney catalog with singers who have performed them on Broadway and stages across the country.

There are, of course, many reasons why Disney princesses resonate so much with so many; they embody traits of resilience, kindness, and bravery that are aspirational for people of all ages. In a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, children of all ages can enjoy these masterfully written and performed songs which encourage them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams long after the curtain falls.

Inside Tiana’s Bayou: Meet the Critter Residents (Part 1)

Hey adventurers! You’ve seen the gorgeous details of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure emerge, from the murals to that stunning Tiana Audio-Animatronic. But now, get ready to step deep into the bayou itself, because it’s time to meet some of the new faces bringing the music to this magical place!

Princess Tiana’s got a party to throw, but Naveen and Louis have caused a royal mix-up! Suddenly, there’s no band! We already knew this ride would introduce some new friends, and that’s where the critters come in. No Mardi Gras bash is complete without some toe-tapping tunes, and Tiana and Louis are off on a whirlwind bayou search for those missing musicians.

So, who are these critters?

Picture this: floating gently down the river, fireflies twinkling above, you hear “Gonna Take You There” bursting with a whole new Zydeco flavor! Fiddles, accordions, even a washboard – it’s a symphony of sounds crafted from bits of nature and lost treasures. This critter band is seriously charming, and now, it’s time to meet some of the furry (and scaly!) musicians behind the magic.

Byhalia the Beaver – Byhalia doesn’t just build dams; she helps build musical instruments using natural materials from the bayou. As a strong-willed percussionist, it’s safe to say Byhalia is the heartbeat of the band, as well as a natural designer and engineer.

Gritty the Rabbit – Always willing to dig a little deeper to help others, Gritty plays the washboard (a found automobile license plate) with a high-energy flair. It’s the perfect instrument for someone who’s often overzealous and digs to relieve her nerves.

Beau the Opossum – Seeing limitless possibilities, no one finds more wonder in the bayou and the sounds of zydeco music than Beau. All she knows is beauty, especially her own. Guests can find her plucking out the low notes with her upright gourd bass, which of course, involves some musical dexterity with her tail.

Apollo the Raccoon – Apollo loves transforming abandoned objects into works of musical art – like his squeezebox. He’s full of energy and storytelling, especially about the objects he finds in the bayou. He’s particularly close with Rufus and appreciates Rufus’ calm demeanor.

Rufus the Turtle – Rufus may be a turtle, but he’s quick to jump into rhythm with his harmonica. He’s also the first to join in on new adventures! He’s genuine and sincere but may come across as a little sarcastic at times with his habitual sighing. Rufus loves going on adventures with Apollo.

Timoléon the Otter – He’s the eldest of the band, but Timoléon’s fiddle-playing is inspired by all the ‘kids’ he spends his time around while in the bayou. When he’s not sawing out a jig, he’s famous for telling stories of days long ago about his explorations of every corner of the bayou.

Okay, so these musical critters are seriously awesome, but Tiana hints there’s EVEN MORE to discover in the bayou…ooh, the suspense! Okay, we have to say, the hype is REAL. On Friday, March 22, 2024, LEGOLAND California Resort FINALLY unveiled its newest land, Dino Valley – and it’s everything a dinosaur-obsessed, LEGO-loving kid (or kid-at-heart) could dream of. Talk about a ROAR-some way to celebrate their 25th birthday!

We are not the only ones who’ve been wishing for dinosaurs at LEGOLAND. “We did a bunch of research, and dinosaurs were the top request,” says Kurt Stocks, President of LEGOLAND California Resort. “This project has been in the works for two years, and it’s incredible how they’ve transformed those classic rides into a whole prehistoric experience!”

What You’ll Find in Dino Valley

Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning Beetlejuice.

Keaton returns to his iconic role alongside Oscar nominee Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Little Women) as Lydia Deetz and two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt$ Creek, Corpse Bride) as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon) in his feature film debut, with Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate).

Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic, and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.

Burton, a genre unto himself, directs from a screenplay by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Wednesday), a story by Gough & Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO® Batman Movie), based on characters created by Michael McDowell & Larry Wilson. The film’s producers are Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper, and Burton, with Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Gough, Millar, Brad Pitt, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, Anthony Tittanegro, Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg executive producing.

Burton’s creatives behind the scenes includes director of photography Haris Zambarloukos (Meg 2: The Trench, Murder on the Orient Express); such previous and frequent collaborators as production designer Mark Scruton (Wednesday), editor Jay Prychidny (Wednesday), Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sleepy Hollow), Oscar-winning creature effects and special makeup FX creative supervisor Neal Scanlan (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman (Big Fish, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman); and Oscar-winning hair and makeup designer Christine Blundell (Topsy-Turvy).

A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be released only in theaters and IMAX on September 6, 2024 nationwide, and internationally beginning 4 September 2024. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

El Capitan Hosts Phantom Menace Anniversary & Skywalker Saga Marathon for Star Wars Day

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace blasts into the El Capitan Theatre beginning May 3rd through May 7th to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the film.

As part of the “The Phantom Menace” screenings, fans will be treated to an exclusive look at “Star Wars: The Acolyte.” The upcoming Disney+ series, set approximately 100 years before “The Phantom Menace,” launches exclusively on Disney+ on June 4.

Experience all 9 films with the Star Wars Skywalker Saga May the 4th Marathon beginning at 10 am on Saturday, May 4th. Guests will see all nine movies on the big screen, beginning with “Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace” and concluding with “Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.” Tickets are $135 and include an inclusive poster, all-you-can-eat popcorn, food, and more!

Daily showtimes for “Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace” are 9:30 am, 1:00 pm, 4:30 pm, and 8:00 pm. Tickets are $16 for guests of all ages. Dates and showtimes are subject to change.
