The All New 'Seven Dwarfs Mine Train' Attraction at Walt Disney World

Our friends at Destinations in Florida Travel were lucky enough to be one of the first travel agencies to get a sneak peek into the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride at Magic Kingdom Park. It was an exciting ride, perfect for the whole family! Here is a little review of this incredible new attraction at Disney World.

Queue Line: The queue line on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is an interactive experience with several activities to keep the family busy, while waiting in line. Disney has offered experiences like this one on the Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. We are excited they added it to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

The three interactive experiences include a computer generated mine box with gems floating along. Guests can drag the gems by color and size into their trays. Another experience allowed you to run your hands through colored water to make music. My favorite experience was inside The Vault, where you would spin gem barrels that would make music and beautiful lights on the ceiling. This one is fun to get everyone around you to do it at the same time! These activities would keep the whole family entertained, while waiting in the stand by line. For those lucky guests that get a FastPass+, you will miss this entire section and enter from another entrance.

The Ride: The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride is a family roller coaster. It is a cross between Big Thunder Mountain and the Barnstormer. It is perfect for the whole family. I loved how the ride was smooth for a roller coaster. There were lots of dips and drops and turns. The cart would slide left and right (just like a mine cart) to add to the fun. As you went around corners, the cart would swing back and forth. You certainly get a different experience if you sit in different spots on the cart. I sat in the 1st row, 3rd row and all of the way in the back and it was a different experience each time.

The view on the ride was incredible as you got a spectacular view of the new Fantasyland. If you have an opportunity, you will want to ride in the daytime and then again in the evening. It was a completely difference experience.

Midway through the ride, you went through the Mine with your favorite friends…the Seven Dwarfs. The animatronics were incredible, as the dwarfs sang and played in the mine. They were singing that famous song, “Heigh Ho”. As you started going up the hill for another drop of the coaster, you could see the shadows of the Seven Dwarfs walking home on the wall (just like the movie). It was amazing!

The next thing you knew, you were back on the roller coaster spinning and dropping. The ride ended back at the Seven Dwarfs house with Snow White dancing inside with the dwarfs and animals. Disney had one more surprise. Outside the door was the evil Queen. Watch out Snow White!

The ride was amazing. The only challenge about the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the size of the carts. They sit two people across and it is a tight fit. Just something to keep in mind during your Disney World vacation. Overall, it was a fantastic new ride in Fantasyland.

This new roller coaster is set to open on May 28. FastPass+ reservations are already ready for booking!

"Godzilla Craves Italian" FIAT Brand Commercial is now on Television

Leading up to the May 16, 2014, release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ hugely anticipated epic action adventure “Godzilla,” FIAT Brand North America launches a new commercial across television on Monday, May 5. The 30-second spot features Godzilla rampaging through an American city, targeting anyone driving a FIAT vehicle. The visual effects were created by the Canadian visual effects house Moving Picture Company (MPC), the team responsible for bringing Godzilla to life in the film, who achieve the same level of cinematic finish and dramatic impact in the spot. The commercial began airing across television (5/ 5), with a special extended “Director’s Cut” available for viewing at FIATUSA.com.

“As one of the year’s most-anticipated films prepares to hit movie screens, we want to think big like the Fiat 500L, and what’s bigger than ‘Godzilla,’” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer – Chrysler Group LLC and Fiat Group Automobiles Head of Fiat Brand. “There’s no escaping that whether appetites run for a sporty Fiat 500C, the small-but-wicked Abarth or the four-door Fiat 500L, there is a FIAT for every taste.”

The new commercial unleashes Godzilla on the streets of a major city, where he devours a number of Fiat 500 vehicles. While a helicopter hovers overhead, a yellow four-door Fiat 500L zips through the streets below unsuccessfully trying to evade Godzilla’s path. But Godzilla gets much more than he bargained for with the Fiat 500L when he scoops it up! Godzilla is back! “And it looks like he’s craving Italian!” The spot achieves a striking cinematic feel through its detailed environments, realistic atmosphere and the awe-inspiring power of Godzilla himself.

In addition to the co-branded TV spot, FIAT USA is also executing a movie-themed promotion in support of Godzilla, which invites fans to participate in two distinctive social programs. Beginning, Friday, May 9, the “FIAT Godzilla Giveaway” challenges fans of FIAT and “Godzilla” to prove their ultimate fandom by inviting their Facebook friends and fellow aficionados to “like” FIAT USA on Facebook. Users simply visit the “FIAT Godzilla Giveaway” tab on the FIAT USA Facebook page. Throughout the length of the promotion, movie passes and concessions will be given away in daily sweepstakes. A point system will determine the grand prize winner, who will be awarded the ultimate “Godzilla” movie experience — 10 movie passes, $150 for concessions and “Godzilla”-themed merchandise.

At the end of May, fans can visit www.FIATUSA.com and click on the “San Francisco Showdown” icon to help Godzilla search through a Giga Pixel landscape photograph of San Francisco, the city in which the film’s spectacular finale plays out, to find the hidden FIAT brand vehicles and FIAT logos. For each find, users gain one entry into the sweepstakes to win a three-day trip for two to San Francisco.

First Trailer for Batman Prequel Series 'Gotham'

I always found the idea of Gotham, the new Batman universe based TV series, that focuses on the early days of Detective Jim Gordan, a little bit ridiculous. I wasn’t sure you could pull off a Batman series without Batman, while still using his rogues gallery as the starting point of the series. So you might be shocked to find how much I enjoyed the first trailer for the new Fox TV series, which was just picked up today for thirteen episodes in the upcoming TV season.

The show stars Ben McKenzie as the young Detective Gordon, who is just beginning his career in Gotham City. The corruption surrounds him, as the seedy underbelly of the city begins to rise from the shadows, and he’ll do his best to stand against it. All the while, he’s begun to befriend a recently orphaned child, Bruce Wayne, played by David Mazouz, whose parents were recently murdered in front of him. As the villains begin to take hold of the city, familiar faces will begin to appear, as we see them rise to power, including one Oswald Cobblepot, the man who will become The Penguin.

The series, which will premiere this fall on Fox, also stars Donal Logue, Barbara Kean, Jada Pinkett Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Sean Pertwee, Cory Michael Smith, and Zabryna Guevara. Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

“Gotham” is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. Brave, honest and ready to prove himself, the newly-minted detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue, “Sons of Anarchy,” “Terriers,” “Vikings,” “Copper”), as the two stumble upon the city’s highest-profile case ever: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the sole survivor: the Waynes’ hauntingly intense 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz, “Touch”), toward whom the young detective feels an inexplicable kinship. Moved by the boy’s profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.

As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith, The Matrix films, “HawthoRNe,” Collateral), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction’s most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova) and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor, “The Walking Dead,” Another Earth).

Although the crime drama will follow Gordon’s turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara, “Burn Notice”), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee, “Camelot,” “Elementary”). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he’s destined to be.

The Star Wars universe is coming back in a big way over the next year and a half. With Star Wars Episode VII, the start of a new trilogy, set for release next December, and the end of the last series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, just recently ending, it seems like there could have been a long wait for anything new set in the galaxy far, far away. But thankfully, that isn’t the case, because Lucasfilm is bringing us another new series set in the Star Was universe, that takes place in a time of darkness that descends across the galaxy, set during the years left unexplored between Revenge of the Sith and the beginning of A New Hope. The series will introduce us to a new set of characters, including Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper, as they begin to build the Rebellion as we’d come to know. There will also be familiar faces as well, as news broke recently that Obi-Wan Kenobi will also be in the show, giving us more insight into what his story was between the prequels and the original trilogy.

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. Fans all over the world celebrated Star Wars Day–May the 4th be with you! This week, Lucasfilm announced the casting for Star Wars Episode VII followed by the premiere of the trailer for their new animated series, Star Wars Rebels. The trailer received a Death Star-sized debut, broadcasting in over 160 countries and over 439 million households worldwide.

Global highlights include special Star Wars themed rugby matches in Australia, Star Wars 6K runs in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, character appearances in London, fan events in Shanghai, China and an intergalactic takeover of the Roman Colosseum in Italy, to name a few.

The festivities weren’t limited to just our planet as R2-D2 helped the International Space Station deliver a special message to Star Wars fans around the world through a special collaboration with NASA and Space Center Houston. Celebrities such as Simon Pegg, Charlize Theron, Tony Hawk & Robbie Williams even got in on the fun sharing photos and wishing fans a happy Star Wars Day.

Opening Ceremony Unveils Its First-Ever Fashion Collection Inspired by Disney’s Steamboat Willie

Opening Ceremony, in collaboration with Disney, is launching a special capsule collection and celebrating the first Mickey Mouse animated film, Steamboat Willie. The fashion collection includes men’s and women’s ready-to-wear apparel, footwear, and accessories — all showcasing one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the world.

The Mickey Mouse collection by Opening Ceremony features new and exciting prints inspired by Steamboat Willie artwork and film stills. The film prints are translated in vivid colors on button-down shirts, tees, sweatshirts, and plush-soft knit sweaters. To round out the collection, Opening Ceremony also collaborated with its renowned brand partners to create accessories: New Era for the classic 5950 caps and custom developed bucket hats, Vans for slip on, low-top and skate-high shoes, and Tabio for finely-crafted socks.

Steamboat Willie is celebrated for its introduction of Mickey Mouse to the world, and recognized as the first cartoon with synchronized sound. Directed by Walt Disney, the film was released at the Colony Theater in New York on November 18, 1928, the date used for the birth of Mickey Mouse. Music was an integral part of the film, opening with Mickey piloting the Steamboat Willie riverboat down a river, happily whistling along to the tune of “Steamboat Bill.” As a mischievous deckhand on a riverboat, Mickey also plays “Turkey in the Straw” utilizing an animal menagerie as his instruments. This groundbreaking film featured a 15-piece band on its soundtrack with squeaks by Walt Disney himself for Mickey, and debuted Minnie Mouse as Mickey’s love interest.

POWER DISCS – New set of circular and hexagonal Power Discs will be available for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. Circular discs will add costumes, Area of Effect attacks and team-ups. Hexagonal power discs will add new weapons, vehicles and sky and terrain customizations. Select Power Disc descriptions are below:

o World War Hulk – Customize your landscape to make it look as if Hulk went on a smashing rampage
o World War Hulk Sky – Turn your blue skies green with this Hulk themed power disc

o Falcon’s Wings – You’ll be soaring when you put on Falcon’s Wings

o S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier Strike – Send down a missile strike from above. Your enemies will need to take cover

Disney Infinity 2.0 with Marvel Super Heroes Out this Fall! Meet the Characters.

Disney Infinity just got super powered! In Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) conquer a game universe where you have the freedom and endless opportunity to create stories and action adventures featuring the all-new Marvel Super Heroes. The Video Game Starter Pack now features a newly enhanced Toy Box, Marvel’s The Avengers Play Set, and Toy Box Game Discs! If you missed the Announcement event, watch the video above (be patient this is an hour video).

Disney Interactive brought in Brian Michael Bendis, longtime Marvel Comics artist and writer, to write the story for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes and to ensure that the game has the look, feel and “taste” of Marvel’s heroes and villains.

Play sets in the 2.0 Edition of the game will be much larger than those in the original version of the game. Marvel’s version of Manhattan, for example, is four times larger than the size of the Incredibles play set from the original Disney Infinity. “We needed to make the world a lot larger,” Blackburn said, “because our characters can fly.”

Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition and Marvel Super Heroes will launch with a new starter pack, which includes an Avengers-themed play set, two power discs and three characters: Thor, Black Widow and Iron Man.

The platforms for Disney Infinity 2.0, is coming to iOS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The game will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on “day one,” Disney confirmed.
