“Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” takes a jolly sleigh ride from book to stage in this live musical adaptation of the beloved holiday classic. While the bouncy Whos in the town of Whoville loved the Christmas season with its caroling, decorations, feasts, and presents, the green-haired Grinch (Joshua Woodie) who lived on Mt. Crumpit, did not. After decades of tolerating the cheery buffoonery, the Grinch had enough of this institutionalized lampoonery. Oh, no… I’m rhyming! Anywho who… eek! [Clears throat] The Grinch comes up with a sinister scheme to stop Christmas from coming in an attempt to restore his serenity.
Old Max (W. Scott Stewart), who was once the Grinch’s faithful doggy companion, narrates the tale from his perspective as a younger version of himself, Young Max (Brian Cedric Jones). Taking a page from another classic “Christmas Story” of an old narrator recounting a beloved time of year. While a musical duo between Old and Young Max is fun for children, it’s a playful time pad more than anything else. Still, a clever device to engage the audience to follow Old Max as if reading a bedtime story and later singing the iconic “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”.

A song so undoubtedly synonymous with the character and story thanks to the 1966 Chuck Jones animated classic.”What Cha Ma Who” will easily identify to parents why the Grinch has a disdain for the holiday season with all the noise, noise, noise. “One of a Kind” counteracts a desirable life of solitude. The kind of peace a Grinch of any color would side with. The song is a delightful solo show stopping resurgence of Broadway-caliber fanfare.
While the Whos have many new songs, there is one that is the best of the rest. “Who Likes Christmas?” is a catchy anthem that gets your toe tapping into the Christmas spirit. But what of Cindy Lou (Alternating: Aerina DeBoer, Mélodie Rose Romano) do you ask? Well, the adorable little girl along with the rest of her family Papa Who (Aaron Goldenberg), Mama Who (Ashley Morton), Grandpa Who (Brian Rooney), Grandma Who (Barbara Bayes), and Annie Who (Alternating: Charlotte Sydney Harrington, Azalea Wolfe) come together to fear the Grinch, shopping for presents, and discover the true meaning of Christmas.

The green meanie in disguise with Max assembling pieces for his twisted plot while slipping by the Whoville citizens buying up gifts was visually amusing. After Cindy Lou catches the Grinch in the middle of bagging up the family’s holiday provisions, her tear-jerking serenade of belonging sends ripples of warmth to growing hearts.
“Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical” acknowledges the familiarity and popularity of the story retold countless of times in various forms as it unfolds live on stage. It’s quite encouraging for the show to let the audience break out in a tasteful sing-along to a verse from the renowned lyrics to share a moment between not only the audience and performers but with parents and children alike. What is Christmas without a song for all to sing aloud for all to hear?
Even when the Grinch renounces his formidable way, he seeks the audience’s help for the words to say. The green colored fur ball often breaks the fourth wall with comic, endearing, and lovable prestige. The color palette and stylized hand-drawn illustrations of the children’s book leaps off the page and translates magically on stage like a three-dimensional pop-up book. The exaggerated costumes and animated makeup draws in the whimsical musical landscape to life. The bold blacks to the red and white pastel of candy cane or peppermint plays faithfully to the original source material. A refreshing spectacle that would have been lost with media projections. This 90 minute glittering musical extravaganza is presented with no intermission.

The perfect show to introduce young audience members to professional theater. Parents who have read the book “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” beforehand will get children to look forward to what they know and love in a different light. Kids and kids at heart can relate and be entranced by the characters in the glow of a timeless classic. Don’t flake out on this new delightful holiday tradition. “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical” sleighs into the hearts and minds of the young and old.
Crossroads Live and Running Subway present “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical”. Based on the book How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. Book and lyrics by Timothy Mason. Music by Mel Marvin. Additional music and lyrics by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss. Costumes designed by Robert Morgan. Original choreography by John Deluca. Directed by Matt August. With Bob Richard serving as co-director and co-choreographer.

Ten all-new episodes of the hit series Bluey will launch on January 12, 2024, in the U.S. and around the world on Disney+.
The year’s #1 most-watched series for preschoolers and kids in the U.S. — which has also topped Nielsen streaming charts for overall viewing** — Bluey features the loveable and inexhaustible Blue Heeler dog Bluey, who lives with her Mum, Dad, and little sister Bingo.
In these ten new Disney+ episodes, Bluey showcases the joyful simplicity that can be found in families turning everyday events of family life — like making a cubby house (blanket fort) or a trip to the beach — into unique adventures that bring to life how children learn and grow through play.
The episodes include:
“Cubby” – Bluey and Bingo build a special cubby for their stuffed toy, Kimjim.
“Exercise” – Bingo pretends to be Boss Bluey’s new employee during Dad’s backyard workout.
“Relax” – Bluey and Bingo would rather explore their holiday hotel room than relax on the beach.
“Stickbird” – On a trip to the beach, Mum teaches Bluey how to throw, while Bingo and Dad get creative with a funny-shaped stick.
“Show and Tell” – Bluey wants to know why Dad’s always bossing her around!
“Dragon” – Bluey asks Dad to help her draw a dragon for her story.
“Wild Girls” – Coco wants to play Wild Girls with Indy, but Chloe wants her to play another game.
“TV Shop” – At the pharmacy, Bluey and Bingo have fun playing with the CCTV screens.
“Slide” – Bingo and Lila are excited to play on their new waterslide.
“Cricket” – During a friendly game of neighborhood cricket, the dads struggle to bowl Rusty out.
Following its January Disney+ premiere, the new episodes will air on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in territories around the world later in 2024.
Also later in 2024, Disney+ fans will have even more new Bluey to look forward to, when the previously announced first-ever Bluey special, “The Sign,” will premiere on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) in Australia and globally on Disney+. The 28-minute special is penned by Bluey creator and writer Joe Brumm and directed by Richard Jeffery from Ludo Studio.
Jointly commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids & Family, Bluey is created and written by Joe Brumm and produced by multi-Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studio in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia. The series streams to U.S. and global audiences (outside of Australia, New Zealand and China) across Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ through a global broadcasting deal between BBC Studios Kids & Family and Disney Branded Television.
Bluey has garnered awards wins including the International Kids Emmy Awards, a Critics Choice Award nomination, the Television Critics Association Award, BAFTA Children & Young People Awards, and many more.
Prepare yourself to end the search for a wandering key and unlock the concealed door to your heartstrings as The Chance Theater opens the gate to an everlasting journey into The Secret Garden.
The Secret Garden resonates with the spirit of loving connection out from the pit of despair through personal loss and misguided notions of life in the aftermath of sorrow. Seeking redemption and healing unfathomable pain from building up walls, locking the door, and throwing away the key and sealing the memories not only drying out bad moments but the good ones as well. Unknowingly making matters worse than need to be. Fortunately, the innocence and unrelenting perseverance of one little girl becomes determined to awaken what was put to uneasy rest by estranged acquaintances. The Secret Garden sets itself as a visual and musical characterization of the resiliency of the human soul, sprouting growth, and strength of companionship.
In the early years of the 20th century, sweet Mary Lennox (Catherine Last) was orphaned after her parents fell ill with a terrible disease. Now relocated to live in unfamiliar territory with a relative she hardly met. Disillusioned Archibald Craven (Troy Dailey) himself struggles with the painful grief of his dearly departed wife. Graceful Lily Craven (Laura M. Hathaway) appears to Mary as an apparition with mysterious serenades that guide the little girl’s will. Archibald leaves the care of his irritable son Colin Craven (Charlie Firlik) to his patronizing brother Dr. Neville Craven (Kyle Critelli).
Housekeepers Martha (Sarah Pierce) and Ayah (Trina Estanislao) uphold Archibald’s unwavering desires that keep the home and its occupants in perpetual darkness. Groundskeepers starry-eyed Dickon (Christopher Diem) and compassionate Ben Weatherstaff (Matthew Noah) plant the seeds that spark Mary’s curiosity that gradually pry and nurture a dormant pocket thought to be long gone and forgotten. Select showtimes will feature Elizabeth Last as Mary and Jacob Voight as Colin.
The haunting vocals with accompanying live piano tunes express an ominous aura that compliments the gloomy tone and atmosphere of the mournful story. Glimpses into past lives of arguments, despair, and separation become all too relatable. The astounding performance digs deep to uncover the audience down to its grounded characters. It is bringing everyone together and strengthening a family bond from the shadowy ashes.
A musical journey of a broken home enchanted by a little girl to rediscover and regrow a lost family. Beauty and the Beast meets A Christmas Carol. The high value of the production design frames the set with wooden boards and vintage antiques. Video projections of watercolor scenery branch over wall space to transport and transition between locales.
A breathtaking moment just before the end of Act One has Mary finally opening the hidden gate to the abandoned and secluded patch of earth. The visual crescendo was like seeing Alice walking through the looking glass in Wonderland. The Secret Garden symbolizes the human potential to weather out the demons that plague the mind and find nourishment amidst loved ones.
Tony Award winner for Best Book of a Musical. Tony Award nominated for Best Original Score. Book and lyrics by Marsha Norman (Broadway musical, The Color Purple). Music by Grammy Award winner Lucy Simon. Based on the beloved 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Directed by Casey Long (Chance Resident Director and co-founder) and KC Wilderson (Principal Media and Video Designer for Disneyland Resort Live Entertainment). Music Direction by Gabrielle Maldonado. Choreography by Robert Hahn.
The Secret Garden is now playing on select evenings until December 23, 2023 at the Chance Theater at 5522 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA 92802. Call (888) 455-4212 or ChanceTheater.com for more information and to purchase tickets. This upcoming season is full of highly anticipated shows, plays, and musicals from Hedwig and the Angry Inch to Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft Studio in close collaboration with James Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person standalone adventure that takes place on the same timeline as the Avatar films, built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine. This highly anticipated game is nothing short of a visual spectacle, promising an immersive experience that seamlessly blends innovative gameplay elements with a captivating narrative.
One of the game’s noteworthy features is the ability to craft food, clothing, and weapons. This crafting system adds a dynamic layer to the gameplay, allowing players to tailor their experience. Consuming crafted food not only restores health over time but also provides extra perks based on the ingredients used. This strategic element adds depth to the overall gaming experience, making resource management a crucial aspect of survival on Pandora.
Playing on different platforms offers a diverse range of experiences, but on the PlayStation 5, Avatar truly shines (during press time, we didn’t get a chance to test out the game on the PS5, we were referring to the mapping of the PS5 controller during gaming on the PC.) The integration of the PS5 controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, coupled with the crafting system, provides players with a tactile connection to the Pandora environment. Feeling the fruit as you pluck it from trees or the tension in your bow as you release an arrow adds a layer of immersion that elevates the gaming experience.
Visually, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a masterpiece. The game captures the bioluminescence of Pandora’s Night and the dense, vibrant jungle during the day with stunning precision. Each location feels alive and unique, creating a world that begs to be explored. Ubisoft, under the guidance of Massive Entertainment, has successfully translated the magic of Cameron’s film onto our gaming screens.
“It has been a privilege to join Massive and Lightstorm Entertainment’s close collaboration to bring this powerful fantasy to Avatar fans around the world,” said Luigi Priore, VP, Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Games. “With Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players will be able to experience an epic original story while exploring the world of Pandora in a way that’s only possible in games.”
The narrative unfolds with you playing as a Na’vi, captured and raised by the militaristic human corporation known as the RDA. Trained and manipulated to serve their purpose, you manage to escape fifteen years later, only to discover that Pandora isn’t what the RDA made it out to be. The storyline promises a rich and immersive exploration of the conflicts between the Na’vi and the human forces, offering players a chance to uncover the truth about their character’s past and the secrets of Pandora.
However, navigating through missions can pose a challenge. The stunning visuals come at a cost as sometimes the UI blends in with the environment, making it difficult to discern mission objectives. Even with the “Guided” option turned on, some tasks remain unclear. Yet, this lack of handholding encourages players to explore and figure things out independently, adding an element of realism to the game.
Once you obtain an Ikran, the game truly opens up, offering a sense of freedom and adventure. The ability to traverse both land and sky, coupled with the crafting system, adds a dynamic layer to the gameplay, making exploration more engaging. Frontiers of Pandora also provides ample customization options for both your avatar and your Ikran, allowing players to personalize their experience and immerse themselves in the true essence of Pandora.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, is a crafted epic that combines breathtaking visuals, immersive sound, and innovative technology. The addition of a robust crafting system and a compelling narrative about self-discovery and the true nature of Pandora elevates the game to new heights.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is now available worldwide on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and PC through Ubisoft Connect. The game is rated T for Teen, and its standard edition is available for $69.99.

Three feature films from Disney and Pixar will hit the big screen nationwide for the first time ever in 2024, including 2020’s “Soul,” 2021’s “Luca” and 2022’s “Turning Red.” Tickets go on sale Jan. 2, 2024, for the special engagement theatrical runs, which invite moviegoers to experience three Pixar films the way they were meant to be seen ahead of the studio’s June 2024 theatrical release of “Inside Out 2.”
Like Pixar theatrical experiences of the past, audiences will be treated to a Pixar animated short film ahead of each of the features. “Soul,” opening in theaters on Jan. 12, will be accompanied by the SparkShort “Burrow.” “Turning Red,” opening Feb. 9, will be preceded by the SparkShort “Kitbull.” “Luca,” which hits the big screen on March 22, includes the classic Pixar short “For the Birds.”
ABOUT “SOUL” (Jan. 12, 2024)
What is it that makes you…YOU? Pixar Animation Studios’ “Soul,” Oscar® winner for best-animated feature film, introduces Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) – a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks, and interests before they go to Earth.
Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (voice of Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter (“Inside Out,” “Up”), co-directed by Kemp Powers (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “One Night in Miami”—Oscar® nominee for best adapted screenplay) and produced by Academy Award winner Dana Murray, p.g.a. (Pixar short “Lou”), Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” also won the Oscar for best achievement in music written for motion picture (original score by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Jon Batiste), as well as Golden Globes® for best motion picture—animated and best original score—motion picture (Reznor, Ross, Batiste), and GRAMMY® for best score soundtrack for visual media (Reznor, Ross, Batiste). “Soul” will open in theaters on Jan. 12, 2024.
In “Burrow,” a young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she’s doing. Rather than reveal to her neighbors her imperfections, she digs herself deeper and deeper into trouble. After hitting (bed)rock bottom, she learns there is no shame in asking for help. Directed by Madeline Sharafian and produced by Mike Capbarat, “Burrow” is part of Pixar Animation Studios’ SparkShorts program.
ABOUT “TURNING RED” (Feb. 9, 2024)
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!
Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins (“Finding Dory”), “Turning Red” was nominated for an Academy Award for best animated feature film, as well as a Golden Globe for best motion picture—animated. “Turning Red” opens in theaters Feb. 9, 2024.
Pixar Animation Studios’ SparkShort “Kitbull,” directed by Rosana Sullivan and produced by Kathryn Hendrickson, reveals an unlikely connection that sparks between two creatures: a fiercely independent stray kitten and a pit bull. Together, they experience friendship for the first time.
ABOUT “LUCA” (March 22, 2024)
Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar’s original feature film “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca (voice of Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto (voice of Jack Dylan Grazer), but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
Directed by Academy Award® nominee Enrico Casarosa (“La Luna”) and produced by Andrea Warren (“Lava,” “Cars 3”), “Luca” was nominated for an Oscar for best animated feature film and a Golden Globe for best motion picture—animated. “Luca” releases in theaters on March 22, 2024.
In Pixar Animation Studios’ Academy Award®-winning short film “For the Birds,” small birds mock a big bird who tries to join them on a telephone wire. Written and directed by Ralph Eggleston and produced by Karen Dufilho-Rosen, “For the Birds” initially opened in front of Disney and Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” in 2001.
