WB Studio Tour Hollywood “Horror Made Here: A Festival of Frights” Expands

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is expanding its already chilling Horror Made Here: A Festival of Frights with new attractions created to give horror fans a night to remember. In addition to the return of Pennywise in our reimagined It Knows What Scares You maze, and debut of the sinister institution from Batman: Arkham Asylum, this year’s Horror Made Here will also feature a blood-curdling maze from The Conjuring Universe, a diabolical viewing of The Exorcist, an eerie tour through Freddy vs. Jason’s Camp Crystal Lake, and much more.

In this year’s reinvented maze, guests will experience a sneak peek into the world of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they confront a host of satanic spirits from The Conjuring Universe. Fans will fall victim to Annabelle’s devious games, and come face-to-face with the demon lurking in the shadows from New Line Cinema’s latest installment The Nun, in theaters September 7th, 2018.

Deep, dark woods conceal the ghastly presence of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, waiting to give visitors the worst nightmare of their lives. Aboard a Warner Bros.’ tour cart, guests must survive a cunning game of cat and mouse as they navigate through the infamous Camp Crystal Lake – and all of the horrors unveiled along the way. Brave campers will be left to their own devices to explore the campground, while those unlucky enough to face Freddy and Jason will suffer the gruesome fate they have in store for them.

In addition, those seeking even more supernatural thrills are in for a treat as Horror Made Here will present a special “forbidden screening” of the 1973 classic The Exorcist. Visitors who wish to encounter a truly demonic spirit will enter the safe haven of our backlot church and witness an evil beyond this world right from the pews.  In this 4D experience, guests will relive the most terrifying scenes from The Exorcist in an unholy viewing known to provoke demonic forces.

Horror Made Here will also offer a series of attractions and activities for horror loving fans, including:

  • Devil’s Drop Tower: Adventurous visitors will have the opportunity to take the 90-foot plunge into the air for the scream of their life.
  • Stage 48: Script to Scream: Enter the world of Tim Burton and see authentic props and costumes from his iconic movies Sweeney Todd, The Corpse Bride, Mars Attacks! and for the first time ever on display at Warner Bros., original props from the Halloween classic, Beetlejuice.
  • Horror Makeup Demonstrations: Learn how makeup artists bring terrifying characters to life with our special Horror Made Here SFX makeup demonstrations throughout the night.
  • The Lost Boys Arcade: Play iconic games in the retro Lost Boys-themed arcade. Games include titles like Ms. Pac-Man, Tetris, Mario Bros, Space Invaders and Terminator 2 Pinball.
  • Horror Made Here Night Tour: Board a quick nighttime tour through the Warner Bros.’ backlot for a guided exploration behind-the-scenes of beloved titles in horror entertainment, including iconic filming locations like New York Street, where House of Wax was shot.

Additionally, Horror Made Here will feature carnival games, live entertainment, a “Little Shop of Horrors” where guests can purchase Halloween and Horror Made Here merchandise, plus fun food and beverage options, including the goth-punk Fangtasia Bar featured in the HBO series True Blood, serving regular drinks for humans and “Tru-Blood” for vampires.

“We are thrilled to announce our expanded line-up for Horror Made Here. At Warner Bros., we are committed to delivering not just a scary experience, but one that’s unforgettably unique to its setting on the legendary backlot where some of horror’s most iconic films were brought to life,” said Gary Soloff, Director of Marketing, WBSTH. “This year, our extended nights and hours will give guests the opportunity to relive some of their favorite moments in horror while also enjoying our creepy carnival filled with more entertainment and plenty of food and drinks.”

Horror Made Here will begin on October 5, 2018, allowing fans to face their biggest fears for 13 nights. Tickets are on sale now, starting from $59 per person at horrormadehere.com.

Oga’s Cantina Lands in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

The first step in the larger world of Disney Parks’ Star Wars themed lands has begun, revealing a brand new Cantina scheduled to open in 2019. The Disney Parks Blog stated that Oga’s Cantina will be welcoming travelers from all across the galaxy, creating a haven for all those needing refuge from the epic war among the stars.

The cantina will be run by a new alien character, Oga Garra. According to the latest reports, the location will also adhere to a strict code of conduct, meant to keep the criminal element, scum, and villainous types at bay. Part of the larger Black Spire Outpost, Oga will be serving up exotic and highly sought after concoctions. Served in “unique vessels”, each item will be a rare treat worth exploring. The post also hinted at possible adult beverages, which will be a Disneyland first.

In pure Star Wars fashion, music will also be found at Oga’s, courtesy of RX-24, who you may recognize as the rookie pilot from the original Star Tours journey to Endor. All these years later, RX has found his home as the cantina’s DJ. This touching tribute is one of many amazing things that will be found both at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will open 2019!

The 6,363-square-foot Soccer Wearhouse is scheduled to open at Anaheim GardenWalk this fall and will be located on the Main Level near O’Neill.

“Soccer Wearhouse will be a welcome addition to the Anaheim GardenWalk retail lineup,” says Robin Weeks-Wynne, Senior Director, Marketing and Tourism, Anaheim GardenWalk. “The store caters to local families involved in soccer as well as dedicated soccer fans and visitors attending sports conventions at the nearby Anaheim Convention Center.”

Baby Giraffe goes out on Kilimanjaro Safaris for the first time

The next time you’re on safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, be on the lookout for Aella (pronounced “eye-la”), a two-month-old Masai giraffe calf who just made her debut on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna. Guests and Cast should be able to easily spot her as she is the youngest and smallest giraffe in the herd.

Born on June 29, Aella was more than five-feet-tall at birth. Up until now, she has been spending precious moments bonding and nursing with her mom Lily in a backstage habitat.

Named after an Amazon warrior, Aella is known to be a brave and bold young giraffe with a curious and independent spirit. She’s adventurous enough to explore on her own, sometimes leaving mom a few paces behind.

Aella’s birth marks a first for her parents – mom Lily and dad George. The pair was chosen to breed through the Species Survival Plan (SSP), which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and ensures responsible breeding of threatened and endangered species. Breeding this pair is important to the long-term survival of the species because it adds more genetic diversity to the giraffe population, which helps ensure future generations.

Aella will nurse for about a year, and then, as a herbivore, she will move to the lush vegetation available throughout the savanna. When full grown, she will use her 18-inch tongue to strip leaves off thorny branches from the tops and sides of trees to consume up to 75 pounds of food a day. That’s a tall order!

The Masai giraffe is a vulnerable species found primarily in Kenya and Tanzania. There are believed to be roughly 32,000 Masai giraffes left in the wild, and their population continues to decline because of poaching and habitat loss.

life

The Disney Conservation Fund supports conservation efforts in Africa to protect wildlife habitats, including those of giraffes. Earlier this year, several Disney animal care experts went to Uganda to help relocate a herd of giraffes across the Nile River to establish a newer, safer habitat away from oil-drilling fields. Another team went to Kenya to support a giraffe and zebra population census.

Adventure Awaits in Disneyland’s Tropical Hideaway

Nestled deep in the jungles of Adventureland, a new journey awaits with Disneyland’s Tropical Hideaway. The Disney Parks Blog just revealed the new location will open later this year, giving us our first tease of the new spot since the reveal earlier this year. A variety of unique food, beverage, and snack items will be available, quoted as “extraordinary eats”.

You will be able to explore exotic eats, such as a plethora of bao buns. There will be three to choose from: Spiced Vegetable Bao, Kaffir Lime Chicken Bao, and Bulgogi Beef Bao. Chilled Ramen Salad will also be on the menu along with a tropical inspired set of snacks. The blog also teased some sweet options, including Pineapple Lumpia, a spring roll filled with pineapple and sweet cream cheese.

life

This new spot will serve as an exotic marketplace for discovering extraordinary eats from all corners of the world. A variety of unique food and beverage items will be available for adventurous palates of all types!

The concept will also bring a new rest area to the park, which will be an open air dock that looks directly out to the Jungle River waterfront. The area will transform at night into an enchanting nighttime venue, filled with lights and music. More details will be revealed as we get closer to the debut of Tropical Hideaway. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room will also be closed to assist in the transformation, reopening later this year.
