New Disney100 Lego/Disney Castle Coming Soon

Lego

To celebrate the launch of the new Lego | Disney Castle and honor 100 years of Disney, London-based artist Lakwena Maciver has unveiled her latest artwork, Kaleidowaves, a 4.5m tall castle window inspired by the storytelling possibilities of the new LEGO set. The Kaleidowaves mural was today unveiled in London with Lakwena’s children, Aroko aged four, and Makelo aged six, placing the last of the mural’s 220,000 LEGO bricks in place.

The new LEGO | Disney Castle is a celebration of the playful joy and creativity that the LEGO Group and Disney have inspired families around the world over the past 24 years. Since the first LEGO Winnie the Pooh set was unveiled in 1999 as the hidden time capsule in the new LEGO | Disney Castle, the two brands have helped fans share the wonder of Disney storytelling by inspiring children, and adults, to reimagine fan-favorite moments through LEGO play.

Lego

The new LEGO | Disney Castle set is a homage to the iconic castle at the beginning of all Disney movies. The 4,837-piece features not only the castle building but also references from 14 classic Disney films over the last 100 years, such as Steamboat Willie and Snow White (the first Disney Princess) to The Princess and the Frog and Moana. The set comes complete with eight minifigures, representing some of the Disney Princess characters and their male counterparts.

Lego

Inside the castle are various rooms including a kitchen and dining room, a ballroom, and a bedroom. Each room has references to Disney films and characters and there is even a secret turret for fans to discover a Disney time capsule with references to the 100-year history. Outside, the castle is decorated with fireworks.

Lego

Talking about her role as the Creative Design Lead for LEGO | Disney, Benedikte Stamp said, “Over the last century, Disney has created some of the world’s greatest stories which are loved by generation after generation. Just like these stories, LEGO play transcends age, language, culture, and interests to inspire millions of children to build and create anything they can imagine. As a designer, it’s my role to bring together the magic of the two brands and give fans of all ages the chance to celebrate their love for Disney stories through building.”

Lego

The new LEGO | Disney Castle set will be available globally via LEGO Stores and at www.LEGO.com/Castle for LEGO VIP EA members from 1st July 2023 and for all from 4th July 2023 at the recommended retail price of $399.99 / €399.99 / £344.99. From 1st to 9th July anyone who purchases select LEGO | Disney sets over £95/$/€100 in LEGO Stores or LEGO.com will also receive the LEGO | Disney 100 Years Celebration set for free, which features a podium, a movie screen, projector (which lights up), a desk and a Mickey Mouse minifigure.

San Fransokyo Square to open this Summer at DCA

San Fransokyo

At Disney California Adventure Park, the San Fransokyo Public Works Department has been diligently beautifying and making improvements to the local cannery district, which is home to a diverse neighborhood of eateries and businesses from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning film “Big Hero 6.”

Disney has shared that, over the summer, the local eateries will start to introduce delicious new menu offerings! Starting in mid-July, Guests will be able to sample new San Fransokyo selections at Lucky Fortune Cookery, and the Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería will officially open. In the weeks following, additional dining options, unique shopping, and more will be introduced as the transformation of this thriving seaside plaza continues through mid-August.

When the transformation is completed, locations across the area – from the Cappuccino Cart outside the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge to The Bakery Tour – will be decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the Big Hero 6 team after their victory over Yokai.

Guests will have the opportunity to interact with Hiro and his huggable healthcare companion, Baymax, who will say hello outside the Hamada Bot Shop. This is where the Big Hero 6 team builds and innovates their hi-tech gear, so Guests may also see a few of their upcoming inventions.

Lego

Near the Hamada, Bot Shop will be the San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, a storefront stocked with unique apparel, homewares and more featuring Baymax and friends. In the concept art above, the market’s shelves are situated on robot storage cases, with decommissioned battle bots on display. If Guests turn a sharp eye to the rafters overhead, they may spot the local battle bot champion, Hiro’s Megabot!

Across the way, a vending machine dispenses collectible golden medallions featuring Baymax and other iconic images from San Fransokyo.

The diverse array of flavorful fare in San Fransokyo Square will include current favorites and new creations inspired by Asian cuisine, as well as the Big Hero 6 themselves. Let’s check out the dining destinations Guests will be able to try.

Lego

Aunt Cass Café, the second bakery café operated by Hiro’s loving aunt, will serve dishes, and soups in freshly-baked Boudin sourdough bread bowls and more inspired by Japanese cuisine. On the outside of this quick service restaurant, Guests will find a mural of Aunt Cass’ lucky pet cat, Mochi.

Lego

An old fishing net tannery across from the café is being converted to Rita’s Turbine Blenders, a giant drink dispenser offering delicious margaritas and icy beverages. This refreshment stand is owned and named after the repair technician who maintains the floating wind turbine, resembling a giant koi fish, that sits atop the structure.

In addition to these locations, Guests can expect new menu items at Cocina Cucamonga and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.

San Fransokyo Square will be full of fun for travelers of all ages!

Both theme park reservations and valid admission for the same park on the same day are required for park entry.
