I was hesitant of the prospects of yet more digital projections in new rides at Universal theme parks. But the ride design for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge eased my concerns with the projections actually enhancing the experience rather than taking away. The ride itself is not a fast roller coaster. The slow-moving and spinning dark ride is first and foremost an interactive experience. Utilizing state-of-the art augment reality technology rendered in real-time is an amazing feat when combined with physical set design while wearing video-display goggles upon each forehead.
The adventure can be over-stimulating at first, but with each passing turn, the player learns more and soon enough gain expert status. The queue begins light-hearted enough traversing underground caverns and fields of happiness. But standing at the entrance of Bowser’s Castle become even more impressive once inside. The first portion of the castle is set in Bowser’s study with books, throne, blueprints, models, and desk all geared toward building and challenging Mario and his friends to a race.
The next room takes you inside a factory constructing and supplying weapons to be used in the big race. Pay close attention to instructions on how to win against Team Bowser. Turn your steering wheel into the flashing red arrows. Aim by turning your head at the target. Use your turtle shells at Team Bowser players to gain points. Loose points should you shoot at Team Mario players. Toadstool Cafe serves as the land’s only quick-serve food option. Toad is in the kitchen preparing delicious food options designed to power up your taste buds and energize you for adventures that await you in the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom. The range of starters, salads, entrees, desserts, and beverages compliment the Nintendo world with creatively themed menu items. Most selections will be dripping with fun thematic elements such as picks with hats, spiraling flag poles, power up images on edible bits, and so much more. Salads appear in the image of piranha plants, slices of star fruit, and green polka-dotted croutons in the shape of Yoshi eggs.
The Super Star Lemon Squash is a lemon soda filled with bursting fruity boba flavors and topped with star-shaped mango jellies. Cheesy garlic knots with marinara dipping sauce is just the tip of the flavorful tasting. The Super Mushroom Soup is a creamy tour de force of mushroom displayed in a fun mushroom-shaped bowl and parmesan crackers. Try pairing the soup with other items on your plate such as the truffle fries or piece of chicken. The spaghetti and meatballs deliver a spicy kick to the mushroom and parmesan covered Italian dish. The four hour braised short rib special proved popular on a bed of goat cheese polenta surrounded by red wine reduction and spots of crème fraîche.
The Mario Burger is a classic bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms and paired with truffle fries. The Luigi Burger is a grilled chicken breast with swiss cheese and green bell pepper ring. The burger and truffle is served with a herby basil pesto. Another entree menu is expected to arrive after Super Nintendo World’s debut. A kids meal is also offered with corn on the cob and a field of broccoli. The gold coin is a chocolate cookie dessert. Speaking of desserts, there are three varieties of sweet treats to choose from.
The tiramisu is encased in five sugar cookies printed with question mark blocks, a spread of raspberry sauce, and topped with a white chocolate power-up image. The Mt. Beanpole Cake simulates a layered landscape of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla topped with matcha cream. Princess Peach Cake is a grandiose for lovers of frosting on to of a funfetti cupcake highlighted with a fruity jam center.
Everything is visually and tastefully pleasant sending waves of energy coursing through player’s mouth; in particular the Luigi burger, mushroom soup, and Mt. Beanpole cake. There is also a popcorn and food snack stand themed to Nintendo located just outside the land between the Jurassic World bar and entrance to Revenge of the Mummy. The strawberry cream soda was a pleasant cold treat on a warm day.

I was initially weary about spending $40 on the Power Up Band that can only be used in newest land of the Universal theme park. But there’s surprisingly a lot you can do with this next generation slap band bracelet. I find myself more enticed to purchase a Power Up Band more than a Wizarding World wand.
First you’ll have to connect the band to the Universal Studios Hollywood app on your smartphone. From there, register a player name, choose an avatar, check your personal status, team rank, sticker collection. Now you’re ready to play by punching the bottom of question mark blocks and interact with select games throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. Make sure to scan your band on the hub of your Mario Kart steering wheel in order to link and record your game status.
Power Up Bands can be purchased at Super Nintendo World stores in the theme park, Universal Citywalk, and the 1-UP Factory store inside the land which also happens to be the exit of Mario Kart: Boswer’s Challenge. The stores are stacked with a plethora of plush, pins, ketchains, posters, clothes, figurines, signages, popcorn buckets, toys and more.

As an individual who moderately familiar with the Nintendo universe, I am left stunned with how much the land felt like being your own avatar roaming around in free-play mode ready to be immersed inside a video game. So much big and small details for the average theme-park goer and nostalgia for the frequent gamer. Super Nintendo World is now open for play, fun, and pure joy at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park.
On April 1, 2023, Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will once again welcome guests for culinary delights in its newly reimagined space. This signature dining restaurant with its spectacular panoramic views, is a staple of the resort, with its waterside location, and over the past several months has seen enhanced interior revamp as well as a refreshed menu crafted by Chef Noah Estabrook and Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer in a perfect balance of updated classics and new epicurean delights.
The new space incorporates the concept of “land and sea” and that’s exactly what the culinary teams drew inspiration from when developing the new menu. Upon sitting down for a meal, guests will be greeted with a recipe created by Chef Kristine specially for this location – an Artisan Boule of Sourdough made with a perfectly toasty crust and baked daily in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa bakery.
As guests enter their first course, they’ll continue to be met with masterfully crafted dishes. For years, the Bisque has been a mainstay on the menu, so flavor connoisseurs will be thrilled to see it return, but now with an enhanced tableside presentation. The culinary team has also created two new starters. First up, the Beef and Ricotta Tortelloni accompanied by luscious brown butter, parsnip puree, and sultanta raisins.
Next, the Ocean-inspired Charcuterie Board is a fresh take on a classic featuring ahi tuna pastrami, charred octopus, and house-made sausage from the sea. This plate is a true collaboration, with each component representing the style of a different chef on the Narcoossee’s team.
Moving on to the main course of the dining experience, the team has sourced sustainable seafood from both local waters and around the globe, including with Chef Noah’s signature dish, the Blackened Redfish. This meal is served with a crispy chorizo-sunchoke hash with hominy, Florida sweet corn, and red pepper rouille. What makes this fish a standout is the secret blend of blackened spice which has been passed down from chef to chef of the location, with each culinary mastermind finding their own unique way to feature it on the menu.
Plant-based diners will be delighted with the Roasted Vegetable Paella featuring market vegetables, cannellini beans, and preserved artichoke finished with charred Meyer lemon. Those looking for land-based fare will savor in the new Dry-Aged Pork Ribeye Chop served with creamy goat cheese-potato pave and turnips with onion jam and a touch of fig jus.
Of course, chef has kept Narcoossee’s Guest favorites like the Plancha-seared Scallops with Parisian Gnocchi and Surf and Turf featuring tender filet mignon and butter-poached lobster tail on the menu for new and returning guests to indulge in.
The dessert course also features a favorite that has garnered near legendary status over the years amongst diners of Narcoossee’s – Chef Kristine’s incredible Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert cherry sauce and Chantilly cream.
When developing the new additions to the dessert menu, the pastry team was inspired by bright flavors that really complement the overall experience. The Berry Pavlova, for instance, is artfully crafted with Florida fresh berries and citrus delicately placed over meringue and yuzu crémeux and finished with a tableside pour of anglaise. The Pineapple Bavarois is truly a work of art with a roasted-pineapple center and house-made blackberry-buttermilk ice cream. These dishes make for a perfect and sweet finish to a memorable evening.
This waterfront hideaway is the ideal spot to wind down with a fabulous cocktail or zero-proof beverage. The wine list has been refreshed to reflect a diverse portfolio of varietals, with Proprietor Matt Cristi and the sommeliers on his team available to help guests create the perfect pairing for each dish. Our team of mixologists have also thoughtfully curated a new cocktail program, inspired by the Victorian era. A must-try is the signature Empress Lime Gimlet, a modern twist on a classic gimlet with Empress Gin, Rockey’s Botanical Liqueur, and cold-pressed lime.
The reopening of Narcoossee’s comes as part of the multi-year transformation of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, honoring its rich history at the Walt Disney World Resort while enhancing its iconic Victorian charm and elegance. Big Hero 6 fans rejoice as The Disney Parks Blog has finally given it’s first look at the upcoming expansion and retheme to Disney California Adventure Park, San Fransokyo Square. Inspired by the amazing visuals and cultural fusion of the hit film, Big Hero 6, San Fransokyo Square is set to transform the current Pacific Wharf location in Disney California Adventure Park.
According to the Parks Blog, San Fransokyo will be here faster than we could imagine, with an anticipated summer debut, just in time for the Disney100 Celebration, which is currently underway at the resort. Here’s our first description of the new area:
San Fransokyo Square will transport you to the not-too-distant future, in a fictional mash-up of two iconic cities – San Francisco and Tokyo. As the tech industry began to emerge and the local fishing trade fell on hard times, entrepreneurs came together to reinvent the seaside canneries into a vibrant, multicultural district of neighborhood restaurants and small businesses where you’ll be able to eat and shop.
An iconic landmark of the area will be the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge, which will span the tide pools linking San Fransokyo Square to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk. Once you cross the bridge, you’ll catch a view of the floating wind turbine atop an old fishing net tannery, powering the district from high in the sky. Clues to the area’s storied and charming past can be found in the details throughout San Fransokyo Square.
Baymax will also be receiving a permanent meet and greet location, which is great news considering his Disney Parks debut was short lived. Now heroes, heroines, and healthcare advocates of all ages will have their opportunity to fist bump, hug, and feel satisfied with their care with Baymax! The space is designed as a converted warehouse, which will be at the south end of San Fransokyo.
The Parks Blog has also revealed that all the current food offerings within Pacific Wharf will still be available throughout the transformation. So, for anyone worried about their delicious bread tour, you can breathe a sign of relief.
In addition to fan favorites, San Fransokyo Square will also be home to an assortment of new Asian-inspired offerings. The new Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería will be home to a variety of cultural influences, perfectly fit for the culturally diverse world of San Fransokyo. Signage will represent three languages, including English, Japanese, and Spanish. Outside, visitors will also be invited to a beautiful beer garden, decorated with festoon lights and paper picado.

The LEGO Group are lighting it up with their latest set – a tribute to the global pop icons – BTS. The LEGO Ideas BTS Dynamite set, designed by a LEGO fan, features the seven-piece band on the video set of their global smash-hit single “Dynamite”, which when released in August 2020 reached over 100 million views in less than one day and one billion views in just eight months, and even gave the band their first number-one single in the United States.
Sing, song the night away as you build this 749-piece LEGO set and uncover authentically recreated details that mirror scenes from the iconic music video. Customers can now combine at-home karaoke sessions with brick building and immerse themselves in a world of disco, donuts and dynamic dance moves.
The new set embodies the band’s creative forms of expression and includes the vibrant donut shop, ice cream truck and record store. Each building is fully detachable from the set, allowing for individual play and display experiences.
But the set wouldn’t be complete without the biggest South Korean boy band in the world – who are now also available in LEGO minifigure form for the first time. All seven minifigures of the band members – RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – are ready to sing and dance in sync on the LEGO stages.
This LEGO Ideas set was the brainchild of LEGO fans and friends Josh, 20 from Indiana, and Jacob, 21 from New York. Combining their love of BTS and passion for LEGO building, they worked together to bring the set to life.
Talking about their process, Jacob said: “Josh did the building and design work and, as a massive BTS fan, I told him what needed to be in it, what details were most important. It was a really fun process”.
Josh continued, saying: “Jacob had the BTS knowledge, and he was able to direct my build in the proper way. I watched the music video over and over and tried to capture its essence in the LEGO bricks. It was insane when the project went viral online overnight.”
Talking about developing the set, Federico Begher, Head of LEGO Product Group, commented: “When we saw Josh and Jacob’s colourful design we knew it would be a hit and this was proved by how quickly they reached 10,000 views in the LEGO Ideas voting. The BTS fans have already got behind the design and so it was important that we were as faithful to the original creation as possible. The set highlights creativity, passion and most importantly, fun! We can’t wait to see the fans building and displaying it.”

Journey through the past 100 years of Disney with the Disney100 Decades Collections, a new series that commemorates beloved Disney characters that have captured the hearts and imaginations of us all throughout the past century.

Gameloft, a leader in the creation and publishing of games, has announced the release of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s next free major content update, “A Festival of Friendship.” In honor of the 100 year anniversary of Disney, the Wonder of Encanto, and the magical memories and friendships Disney has provided fans throughout the years, today’s update also features a few special additions to thank and celebrate fans during this momentous moment, including the launch of the brand-new Disney Centennial Star Path and the arrival of another Village newcomer, Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto.
Players are also invited to solve the frigid mysteries of the Frosted Heights and befriend Village newcomer, Olaf.
“A Festival of Friendship” sheds light on the mysteries of the Frosted Heights, a Dreamlight Valley Biome that’s constantly engulfed by a puzzling and terrible blizzard. Only one magical friend can help make sense of this snowy secret—Olaf! Everyone’s favorite lover of warm hugs is at the center of the mystery, and by helping him, players will discover more not only about the Frosted Heights, but also about the Forgetting itself!
But Olaf isn’t the only new friend to meet and lend a hand to in the latest update. In collaboration with Disney100’s Wonder of Encanto, players can now welcome Mirabel and her iconic Mini-Casita to the Valley. Mirabel and her Mini-Casita are missing, magically whisked away from Dreamlight Valley to protect them from the Forgetting. Only by discovering the power of friendship can Mirabel and the Mini-Casita be restored and brought back to the Village.

Andy’s backyard will welcome more toys when Roundup Rodeo BBQ opens in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios March 23. A unique collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney World Food & Beverage, this one-of-a-kind dining experience will be the first “Toy Story” table service restaurant in the world.
Like all of Toy Story Land, Roundup Rodeo brings to life the stories, characters and heart from the award-winning Disney Pixar “Toy Story” films. It is a place where guests shrink to the size of a toy and feel like they have stepped into a clever, whimsical world filled with beloved toys.

Andy has created a new rodeo arena for all of his favorite toys, featuring game pieces and iconic “Toy Story” characters, stickers and more. Imagineers worked closely with Disney Pixar Animation Studios to bring the space to life, developing unique designs and artwork that can only be found in the restaurant. “We are thrilled to work with our partners at Disney Pixar Animation Studios to create this unforgettable dining experience that blends great food, storytelling and whimsy,” said Ben van Beusekom, senior artisan specialist, Walt Disney Imagineering. “A visit to this special place is a must for Toy Story fans who have come to love Andy and his toys as much as we do.”
When guests step into Roundup Rodeo BBQ, they become Andy’s honorary toys. Arriving in the dining room, they enter a scene depicting a toy rodeo in full swing and come face-to-face with life-size figures. Jessie and Trixie take the reins in the first dining space, while Bo Peep and her sheep command center stage in the second.
Absorbed in the action, guests are fully immersed in Andy’s imagination – and the world he has created.

Supper’s on! Offering the same menu at both lunch and dinner, Roundup Rodeo BBQ will serve favorite barbecue-inspired fare in a family-style setting.
Begin your feast with tender, scratch-made cheddar biscuits accompanied by sweet pepper jelly.
A variety of crisp salads, such as a refreshing tomato, cucumber and pickled red onion salad dressed perfectly in white balsamic vinaigrette, set the scene for the main course.
Guests will enjoy delicious house-smoked meats, including fall-off-the-bone tender pork ribs, brisket smoked low-and-slow in house and so much more. A robust plant-based menu is available as well, ensuring a meal for the whole family to enjoy.
And what’s a picnic without sides? Choose from traditional favorites such as potato salad, baked beans or classic slaw, or opt for more adventurous selections like grilled corn-on-the-cob seasoned with a chili-lime spice blend and topped with cotija cheese, or fried pickles.
