“Avatar: The Way of Water” filmmakers James Cameron and Jon Landau were honored with a Handprints and Footprints Ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX® in Hollywood. Among the attendees at the ceremony, in which Cameron and Landau put their handprints and footprints in cement in the legendary movie palace’s forecourt were ”Avatar: The Way of Water” cast members Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang.
This honor comes on the heels of their nomination today by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) for producing “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the most successful worldwide release of 2022 and the seventh highest grossing film of all time worldwide.
In addition, the film has been nominated for six Critics Choice awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and two Golden Globe® awards, for Best Picture and Best Director, and has been selected as one of the year’s top films by the AFI and National Board of Review.
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the Lightstorm Entertainment Production stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet. Universal’s new horror experience will be the anchor tenant in a new 20-acre expansion of Las Vegas’ immersive AREA15 entertainment district that initially opened to the public in September 2020 and has attracted more than four million visitors since that time. Occupying a 110,000 square-foot space, the new Universal experience is an innovative, creative complement to AREA15’s roots in experiential art and entertainment.

New in 2024: New Magical Holidays-Themed Departure, Plus Favorite Seasonal Sailings Return
In late December 2024, Adventures by Disney will invite guests to ring in the new year with an adventure like none other as they set sail on the “Danube River Cruise: Magical Holidays” departure. Guests will board the ship in Munich and be greeted with an authentic German welcome, including oompah music. The ship will transport guests to Austria where they will enjoy privately guided tours in Mondsee with views of the Austrian Alps, a visit to the Benedictine Abbey in Melk, and more.
Following the Christmas holiday, the city of Schonbrunn will transform its traditional Christmas market into a special New Year’s market where guests will experience the beauty and splendor of a European winter. The voyage continues with onboard and in-town activities, plus ice skating in Vienna before sailing to Hungary for enriching tours, carriage rides and making and eating goulash. Throughout the trip, special Disney magical moments are enjoyed along the way.

River Cruising with Disney: Unpack Once and Explore Europe in Style
With Adventures by Disney, guests sail on elegant ships offering stunning views and world-class service, all in collaboration with AmaWaterways. With the added convenience of knowing their “hotel” travels with them, guests unpack only once. Staterooms are artfully designed with luxury and comfort in mind, the expansive windows provide optimal viewing and internet access and in-room entertainment are available for families to enjoy.

One thing is for sure – there’s no shortage of delicious food in the heart of New Orleans, and that doesn’t change when Guests board the ship. Once on the Disney Magic, families will be able to experience three family dining venues with appetizing menus, including Rapunzel’s Royal Table, an idyllic and enchanting restaurant exclusive to the Disney Magic that transports guests to the kingdom of Corona for an evening of music and interactive fun.
Look and Learn: New Orleans is a city rich with history, and there are many ways families can learn all about it. The Louisiana State Museum and the Backstreet Cultural Museum provide a glimpse into the city’s past, while the Louisiana Children’s Museum is a great place for little ones to play and learn. On board the Disney Magic, kids can continue to expand their horizons as they participate in engaging youth activities in spaces designed just for them like Andy’s Room or Marvel Super Hero Academy.
Sing and Smile: If guests spend a day in New Orleans, they can’t leave without hearing some jazz music! Whether you pay a visit to the New Orleans Jazz Historical Park or wander around the festive streets of the French Quarter, keep your ear out for those signature tunes. The musical magic doesn’t stop once you’re on the Disney Magic as well, with three Broadway-style shows (including “Tangled: The Musical,” performed exclusively aboard this ship), a Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party and live music daily during your voyage.
Soak and Splash: Although people may not associate New Orleans with water, a Mississippi River boat tour is a great way to see the city. And once guests are on board the Disney Magic, fun in the sun is taken to a whole new level! They can soak and splash in the numerous pools and hot tubs, or climb their way to the ship’s highest point for a three-story plunge on the AquaDunk, a can’t-miss body slide! And of course, there will be plenty of beaches and water activities during Caribbean cruises from New Orleans, with stops in the picturesque ports of call like Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico.
Just as Tiana transformed an old sugar mill into her dream restaurant in the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “The Princess and the Frog,” soon the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland park will be reimagined into Tiana’s Palace!
As was initially shared at D23 Expo, Disney is excited for the opportunity to tell even more Tiana stories in New Orleans Square. After recently opened Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets, a new retail shop that Tiana opened with her mother, Eudora. Up next will be Tiana’s Palace later this year, followed by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the thrilling attraction that will open in Disneyland park in 2024.
Tiana’s Palace will be the newest restaurant on Orleans Street. Within its peach-colored walls and fancy green wrought-iron balconies, guests will find elegant fixtures and appointments reminiscent of Tiana’s life and friendships. The new Tiana’s Palace will have much of the same pinch of pizzazz and flair as the restaurant from the film, offering authentic New Orleans flavors inspired by Tiana’s friends and adventures in this quick-service style restaurant. While Tiana’s Palace is not a character dining location, guests may find Tiana in New Orleans Square.
The menu at Tiana’s Palace will expand on many of the current favorites served in the location, explore seasonal flavors and, of course, offer some New Orleans classics. Tiana’s Palace is sure to be a gathering place for friends and family to enjoy great food and celebrate together, just like Tiana and her father James dreamed of.
Disney Imagineers are partnering with Disney Animation artists from the original film to bring this story to life at Disneyland park. In fact, the film designers took inspiration from the exterior of the original French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square when designing Tiana’s Palace for the movie, so this is a long-dreamt homecoming.
To begin this work, French Market Restaurant (and Mint Julep Bar) will be closed beginning February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana’s Palace (alongside Mint Julep Bar with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets) later in the year.
Universal Parks & Resorts announces a one-of-a-kind theme park, unlike any other in the world, specifically designed to inspire fun for families with young children. The new park concept, set in a lush green landscape and featuring immersive themed lands, celebrates Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor and innovation and brings to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow even the youngest theme park goers.
The proposed park will be designed to be more intimate and engaging for younger audiences and will be sized for a regional audience. It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues. Although smaller in size, it will still carry the same quality as Universal’s other larger resort destinations.
Part of 97 acres of land recently purchased by the company, the proposed park also has plans for an adjacent themed hotel and room for expansion. The entire area is intended to have a completely different look, feel, and scale than Universal’s existing parks and will appeal to a new audience for the brand.
Universal Parks & Resorts selected the city of Frisco, in North Texas, as the area for this new concept given the city’s growing population and ability to attract businesses to the area. The proposed location for the new concept is ideally situated east of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Panther Creek Parkway.

Happy New Year from Walt Disney World Resort! 2022 was a big year and as they continued the 50th Anniversary celebration with cast, guests and the community, debuted the newest groundbreaking attraction with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and reopened beloved experiences from Fantasmic! to the Walt Disney World Railroad.
2023 brings even more to look forward to – from the triumphant return of the Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular to the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana at EPCOT!
WDW is excited to announce a few other updates they are making to improve the guest experience and to let the fans know they are listening to their feedback, including Annual Passholders, who are some of the most loyal guests:
Enjoy complimentary self-parking when staying at a Disney Resort hotel
Beginning this evening, Jan. 10, overnight self-parking will once again be offered complimentary to guests staying at Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World. This is a Disney difference many of you have asked us to bring back, and we’re happy to reintroduce it to make your vacation a little easier and more affordable – whether you’re road tripping across the country, renting a car or vacationing as a local Florida resident. As a reminder, Disney Resort hotel guests also continue to receive complimentary standard parking at Walt Disney World theme parks, daily early theme park entry (with valid admission and a park reservation) and complimentary on-site transportation options such as buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner.
Walt Disney World Annual Passholders: Park reservation requirements will be relaxed for visits after 2 p.m.*
Beginning in the next few months, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will be able to visit the theme parks after 2pm without needing a park reservation, except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom Park. Pass blockout dates will continue to apply like they do today. While the theme park reservation system remains important to manage attendance in our parks, especially on busier days, we realize our Passholders enjoy more spontaneous visits – and this change will make that possible. Passholders will also receive access to Disney PhotoPass lenses and one complimentary Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories experience (age restrictions apply). We’ll share a start date with Passholders soon for when these offerings will become available, as well as information about a new offering that is planned where you can create and share short Disney-themed video slideshows with favorite photos from your theme park visits.
Attraction photo downloads will be included with Disney Genie+ service
Beginning in the next few months, guests purchasing Disney Genie+ service will also receive digital downloads of their Disney PhotoPass attraction photos, taken in the park on the day of their purchase, at no additional charge. Attraction photos are taken while in the parks at more than a dozen of our most popular attractions including Space Mountain, Slinky Dog Dash, Test Track, Expedition Everest and more. I always love looking back at family photos at our favorite attractions – it’s a perfect way to remember and celebrate your theme park visit together. An exact launch date will be announced at a later time. Disney PhotoPass terms and conditions and expiration policy apply.
WDW also recently added the ability to modify Disney Genie+ attraction selections in the My Disney Experience app, began automatically making theme park reservations with the purchase of 1-day, 1-park specific tickets and made dining reservation policy more flexible if you need to modify or cancel.

Switch between parks even earlier with your Park Hopper ticket, beginning at 11 a.m. PT starting February 4
Beginning February 4, 2023, guests who enter a Disneyland Resort theme park with a Magic Key pass or a Park Hopper ticket may begin crossing over between the parks two hours earlier – starting at 11 a.m. PT!* This means even more magic and more fun in a day as Guests enjoy the best of what both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have to offer.

Ready, set, book! The legacy continues. Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives on Digital February 1 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD February 7. Fans can add the film to their collection and access exclusive bonus content including deleted scenes, a gag reel and audio commentary by esteemed filmmakers Ryan Coogler, Joe Robert Cole and Autumn Durald Arkapaw.
