Disney is pleased to announce that the official opening date of Tiana’s Palace restaurant in Disneyland Park is September 7, 2023! This reimagined quick-service style restaurant is inspired by the one Princess Tiana created in the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “The Princess and the Frog.”
TheTiana’s Palace restaurant opening will mark the next step in bringing more of Princess Tiana’s stories to life in New Orleans Square, which began with Eudora’s Chic Boutique featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets last year and will continue with the opening of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction in 2024.
There will be so many elegant yet subtle details throughout the restaurant that offer fun hints at Tiana’s rich past in New Orleans. Below the lit marquee that reads “Tiana’s Palace” hanging above a metallic gold balcony, is an emerald green wrought iron railing and awnings dyed in yellow and green, reminiscent of Tiana’s beautiful formal ball gown. Guests will be surrounded by the colors of Mardi Gras as they sit on yellow tabletops, on warm vanilla-colored chairs with green seats, in the shade of yellow and green umbrellas.
Disney Imagineers also took inspiration from the film for the interior of the restaurant, which includes a large mural of the bayou. Guests will also see other references to Tiana’s story – lilies represented on numerous signs, plaques, and light fixtures, frog porcelains, cookbooks Tiana has collected on little shelves, and her father’s favorite gumbo spoon proudly on display. Guests will also want to keep an eye out for the letters from her father and neighbors on display, alongside a childhood photo of Tiana.
Did you know? The design of Tiana’s Palace from the Disney Animation film “The Princess and the Frog” was actually inspired by the French Market Restaurant – the former restaurant in this space – in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park. In the film, Disney Animation artists added a wheelhouse and two smokestacks to give Tiana’s restaurant an iconic silhouette, so when the time came to bring Tiana’s Palace to life at Disneyland, Disney Imagineers made those same additions to create the real Tiana’s Palace, making this a full circle moment!
This will be an exciting transformation and mark the return of the Mint Julep Bar! At Tiana’s Palace, Guests can enjoy new menu items that represent Tiana’s story and honor the flavors and flair of New Orleans, with an effort to source some ingredients directly from the state of Louisiana when possible. In celebration of Percy Jackson’s birthday, Disney+ has released a new teaser for the upcoming Disney+ Original series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” The epic series, based on Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan, will debut with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 on Disney+, followed by new episodes weekly.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

On the first night of all Very Merrytime sailings, guests will gather around the three-deck-tall tree in the ship’s atrium for a new tree lighting ceremony. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy will invite guests to sing along to classic holiday tunes, followed by a countdown that will not only make the tree merry and bright but will also introduce the guest of honor for the cruise, Santa Claus.

The iconic classic of “Les Misérables” marches into the Hollywood Pantages Theatre with great awe and admiration. Playing now until September 10, 2023, the musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo sends the audience to France in the first half of the 1800s. Events that lead up to the Paris Uprising of 1832, the story follows ex-convict Jean Valjean on his path to redemption. All while being pursued by Javert, a police inspector with a shared past with Valjean, and intertwining experiences with other characters along the way. This production features heavy songs, minimal dialogue, and precarious adult situations between many characters.

There were no small roles in this national tour of “Les Misérables”. Every talent presented on stage was the “master” of their craft. Everything from the vocal ranges, tight pacing, harrowing action, and reaction was professionally choreographed and exhilarating. The technical wizardry of the distinct lighting and traveling set pieces engulf the audience into the dreary world. A standout performance from beginning to end. Everyone held their own.
The Pantages Theatre plays host to unforgettable showstopping musical numbers. “I Dreamed a Dream” longs for a time long since gone when life felt good and full of joyful promises. “Master of the House” is catchy and humorous with shady innkeepers. “Stars” is unlike the way it’s been heard before. “One Day More” lifts the audience to its feet. “On My Own” makes one yearn for that hopeless romantic. “Bring Him Home” expresses an unspoken prayer. Emotional turmoil emotes from the vocal range from the star-studded cast.
