The holidays at Knott’s Merry Farm begins November 18 and extends through January 8. Every year during the joyous season, the park undergoes a complete transformation into a dazzling winter wonderland featuring a landscape of thousands of twinkling lights, miles of beautiful garland and a variety of picturesque settings.
A variety of new shows are in store this year to celebrate the merriest season of all. The beloved ice show is reimagined for the 40th anniversary of Snoopy on Ice. Snoopy’s Night Before Christmas will have all of the aspects that guests have come to love from the ice show, with special technological additions to make it more magical than ever. The Camp Snoopy Theatre debuts Best Wishes, a heartwarming tale of the Peanuts gang spreading the word of the true meaning of Christmas.
“Knott’s Merry Farm has been a cherished holiday tradition for generations of guests and season pass holders, and we’re excited to offer a full lineup of reimagined favorites and timeless classics again this season,” said Jon Storbeck, Knott’s Berry Farm vice president and general manager. “With lively music and performances, shining décor and delicious treats, Knott’s Merry Farm is sure to create lasting holiday memories for the whole family to enjoy.”
Yuletide cheer is in store with Home for the Holidays, where joyous merriment takes over the Calico Mine Stage with dancing and fun set to popular holiday tunes. In the intimate setting of Ghost Town’s historic Bird Cage Theatre, the Knott’s melodrama company brings to life Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and a brand-new adaptation of a classic Christmas tale – The Gift of the Magi, 1885.
Knott’s own vocal quartet, the Calico Carolers, transport guests back in time to a Victorian Christmas as they perform the season’s songs throughout the streets of Ghost Town. In Calico Park, guests can be serenaded by the a capella group, The Sleigh Bells, with a soulful version of Christmas classics.
At Fireman’s BBQ, legendary Bluegrass Duo takes the stage with a variety of classic bluegrass hits and old favorites, and this Duo will have toes tappin’ and hands clappin’! A down-home dose of Christmas cheer is in store for those who join Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies for a foot-stompin’ show with energetic music and comedy for the whole family.
In Boardwalk Ballroom, the dance floor is open as the best swing bands around put their own spin on the season at the Tinsel Top Club. Nearby at Boardwalk BBQ, guests can enhance their meal with sounds from musical duo The Rockin’ Reindeer.
Every night during Merry Farm, the park comes alive as the lights of the season brighten the night. In Ghost Town, a magical Snow and Glow experience fills the buildings and paths with thousands of lights dancing to the beat of Christmas music while “snow” gently falls. The Wilderness Dance Hall joyously transforms into Santa’s Christmas Cabin, where the entire family can create fond memories by taking photos with Santa Claus and his friends.
Throughout the park, guests can indulge in traditional holiday classics with a twist, including a Merry Farm favorite, crispy breaded turkey bites filled with perfectly seasoned stuffing and sweet cranberry sauce, or Prancer’s pumpkin cheesecake roll funnel cake.
Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village is back with dozens of local artisans selling their unique gifts, including chainsaw wood carvings and elegant glass blowing.

Your Disney+ experience is about to become a little more “Wilde” with the debut of Zootopia+ this week, featuring a brand new series of short stories, each featuring familiar characters and scenes that will tie directly into the original Disney Animation Studios hit, Zootopia.
Gazelle’s lyrics, “Try Everything”, definitely come to mind when looking at the new series, with so many new and fun moments coming to fans across the globe. The creative team behind this new show came together recently to discuss what it was like to revisit Zootopia, as well as how the series will help weave together these new stories into the larger narrative for the franchise.
Director, Josie Trinidad, focused on giving the spotlight to some of the fan favorite Zootopia characters that may have not had the most screen time in the original film. Each character in the series get a chance to tell their own story.
“There are so many rich characters, and we sort of wanted to focus on the others, the secondary characters. We felt like they warranted their own episodes. They warranted the spotlight.” In that Trinidad revealed that when coming to choose from this wide array of characters and stories, it was natural to bring forward stories focusing on Stu and Bonnie Hopps, Mr. Big, as well as the infamous and small time crook, Duke Weasleton.
“The characters are so fun, so interesting and Zootopia is like New York City, where everyone has a story and you really want to delve into each character,” Trinidad added.
Fellow director, Trent Correy, revealed that they had worked on multiple variations of the series, each giving an endless amount of possibility and making it a challenge to narrow down to
“I might have had ten different versions, their world is so ripe and some of them were new characters, but a lot of them were ones we have had met…the range is huge and it really gave us the opportunity to tell different stories like Chief Bogo and Clawhauser their friendship and dynamic at the office. It was just a joy. All these felt very different and fun to explore those personalities,” Correy said.
The directorial duo also had praises to share about their cast, especially Don Lake and Bonnie Hunt, who reprise their roles as Bonnie and Stu Hopps. “With Don and Bonnie, comedic genius. So incredibly smart and hilarious and they forced Trent and I to elevate the material because they were already a couple of steps ahead of us. We had some hilarious sessions,” Trinidad said proudly.
Both Hunt and Lake chimed in, sharing nothing but praises for returning, excited to bring Zootopia to the world of Disney+. “We just explore and have fun, and there’s kind of a built in relationship,” Lake mentioned. “We certainty appreciate it and want to make the most of it!”
Hunt described their new episodes as “intelligent, and kind, and full of humor”, both of the stars hinting that they would love to return and do more for Zootopia+ in the future. Yet, with six episodes, there are still plenty of other stories to tell. This includes the sneaky and shiesty likes of Duke Weasleton.
Returning to the rule of Duke is the iconic Alan Tudyk, who was given the opportunity to bring a new musical element to his character through a brand new song, “Big Time”. Writers Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson spoke about the song, sharing that they were given the concept directly from acclaimed composer, Michael Giacchino.
Samsel describes “Big Time” as a “Queen inspired genre, leaning into David Bowie’s Starman style”. The song will explore Duke’s quest to reach the big time and imagine a new path for himself. “We had so much fun coming up with the Duke version of all these different kinds of career paths. It was just a blast,” Anderson added.
You can catch all six episodes of Zootopia+ exclusively on Disney+ right now!
The time has come to return to the kingdom of Wakanda and for the first time, the world will have to take its first steps into the story and the future of the franchise without the help of the legendary Chadwick Boseman. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is here, and the question looming is simple- Will this film be able to carry forward without T’Challa, and what direction will it take in moving the narrative of Black Panther into this latest Marvel phase and beyond?
To put it simply, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is glorious to behold, delivering a beautiful and powerful story with incredible performances, unexpected surprises, all the while carrying on the legacy of Chadwick Boseman with grace and dignity. The film, similar to its predecessor reminds fans and the world of cinema that representation matters; not for the sake of an agenda or to push ideology, but to tell real stories that are relatable to audiences of all backgrounds and experiences. (You can read more about this in our exclusive interview here).
This tale fits right in with the original film in breaking barriers, unleashing a remarkable power that has helped shape this franchise into a beacon of light for the very cultures it highlights, finding new ways to bring these stories to a wider scope and spotlight in the most genuine way possible.
It all boils down to breaking away from the traditional super hero formula in subtle ways, slowing down the pace to allow time to center in on the raw emotions each character is enduring through loss and reshaping their notions of not only their own identities, but how to grapple with their emotions to move forward. Those decisions, heavily weighted, have consequences, and in the end, every single person in Wakanda Forever has to come face to face with themselves and how their own feelings towards this tragedy will help shape what’s to come and how the world is impacted by the change in tide through T’Challa’s passing.
Yet, this is not a new concept, as the lasting impact of grief and loss is a common thread that ties much of the MCU together. Even looking back at the introduction of T’Challa and Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, the very struggle all comes center to the loss of his father, the discovery of the lies and death of his uncle, and the fervor and rage that comes from losing those who are most close to you. This carries forward again with the aftermath of the Battle of Wakanda against Thanos, as T’Challa and many others were taken in the snap, only to return after the heroic efforts of the Avengers in Endgame.
Nevertheless, the turmoil and struggle continue to play out in sync in this story, bringing Shuri to the limelight as she and her entire family try to find a way to keep moving without the presence of T’Challa, who was the heart and center of their world. Letitia Wright’s performance speaks volumes, evolving right in front of the audience and bringing newfound depth into an already rich and loveable character.
Shuri, who has always been full of light, acting as a guardian angel for T’Challa, will have to not only learn how to grapple with her own internal grief and loss of self, but try and pick up the pieces in the waves of destruction and chaos that surround her. Wright’s Shuri is a force to be reckoned with, bringing something special to the forefront all the while making room for the rest of her ensemble to shine through.
That spotlight definitely shines brightest for Angela Bassett, who delivers a powerhouse performance worthy of the highest praise and one that rivals the very strength of Vibranium. In light of all that has taken place in Wakanda, Bassett’s Queen Ramonda stands tall and doesn’t back down even in the darkest of times. Leading into this performance, Queen Ramonda’s influence as a supporting character has always had a beautiful part to play in the narrative, but this performance breaks beyond that, elevating Bassett into the leading lady this franchise so rightfully deserves, shattering all expectations and bringing home a truly Oscar worthy performance.
Everything she touches is absolute gold. Giving Bassett the reigns and giving her a chance to lead this film has honestly been one of the best decisions Marvel Studios has ever had, and a true indication of how multifaceted these stories can be.
It’s not just about cool action sequences, cutting edge graphics, or pushing the edge of modern technology, it’s about the heart and soul of the human condition, showcasing the voices that deserve a chance to be heard, and giving way to a message that resonates beyond the decorum of the medium it is presented. Bassett, along with Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira were the perfect choices to bring Wakanda Forever the beating heart needed to push Marvel into new territory. It works beautifully!
Though that isn’t all that can be said, as Wakanda Forever pushes even further with the introduction of Tenoch Huerta as the illusive Namor, bringing a whole world of indigenous culture to life from the shadows, and in the end, acts as a perfect parallel for the Wakandans. Very similarly, Namor’s people have spent generations hidden from the rest of the world, with their own claim to technological and mystical powers that stem from the very precious metal that Wakanda has weaved into their society and identity.
Though, unlike Shuri and the people of Wakanda, Namor does not have the same benevolent desire to coexist with the rest of the world as it evolves from the events of the first film. What this leads to is an incredible matchup of might and power, raising the stakes in a performance that stands up proudly and opens the door for a whole new era of storytelling in the MCU. Though, as this is a spoiler free endeavor, you will just have to see the film for yourself to see what Namor will unleash.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuts exclusively in theaters on November 11th!
“A Few Good Men” commands a solid salute to the meticulous and prestigious legacy of proflic playwright Aaron Sorkin. La Mirada for the Performing Arts is fortunate to craft a production that takes the best parts of the original Broadway run and the 1992 film version as the writer articulated his writing skills from both experiences. The pace is quick with the steady close-knit talking characters and grasping chemistry between actors that draws the audience into the powerful courtroom drama.
Those who are only familiar with the movie will have a different experience with the live stageplay. The drama is accentuated to be read and heard clearly across the open space and feeds off the audience reaction bouncing from playful humor to intense moments of awe. The show brings a handful of set-ups and payoffs that doesn’t ring the same as it would on a film medium. A couple of men drinking beer bottles from a baby stroller plays true for an audience who frequent the local theme parks. A scene between the colonel and the doctor is a setup that gives a different payoff in the movie version.
Fans of the film will get a different take upon experiencing the show with live actors and a live audience. The audience is transported and becomes a part of the drama from beginning to end.
From Academy-Award winning writer and renowned playwright Aaron Sorkin (“The West Wing” and To Kill A Mockingbird), this Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.
The audition process narrowed down from 500 submissions into a final cast of 18. Doug Harris will no doubthgly be compared to actor Tom Cruise based on the film version for the character of Lt. j.g. Daniel A. Kaffee. But with Harris’ expressive presence, I particularly saw him more as Jim Carrey playing a lawyer in the movie “Liar Liar” with the dramatic gravitas of more serious roles. Leanne Antonio puts her own passionate stamp on strongly opinionated and eager Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway always on her feet to get the work done.
Andy Umberger makes an intimidating and imposing Col. Nathan Jessep who you do not want to mess around with. 2020 Ovation Award recipient for Best Actress Sara King as by the book Lt. Jack Ross. King expertly demonstrates how her character can be played beyond traditionally associated with a man.
This production will not attract those more familiar with grand musical spectacles. This show asks for the audience’s undivided attention to not only the drama of a court martial hearing, but also the drama that sets up before and takes place outside the court room. Although the main stage is solely set up as a court room, the upper level of the back reveals the Guantanamo Bay post and different portions of the stage split up as different locations with re-positions of tables and chairs.
The sounds and music undertones also contribute to separating time and space between scenes. This show will command the attention of those who grew alongside such court dramas as “Matlock” and “Diagnosis: Murder”. This show is not to be missed if you love stageplay court dramas like “12 Angry Men”
“A Few Good Men” is ready for final inspection from a few good audience members. Playing on select dates now until November 20 at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Interestingly enough, the show runs appropriately during elections and a veterans holiday weekend.
Be aware the show is recommended for a mature audience. The show includes adult language, the portrayal of violence, suicide, and gun shot sound effects. For more information, visit www.lamiradatheatre.com

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is just days away from the highly anticipated release and with fans eagerly awaiting any and all details surrounding the mysteries of Wakanda’s future and how the legacy of the original phenomenon of Black Panther will live on through the loss of T’Challa himself, Chadwick Boseman. Director, Ryan Coogler, recently sat down with the cast and creative minds behind Wakanda Forever, discussing how they explored the story and how this new chapter will bring the women of Wakanda front and center. Though, it may not be in the way you’d expect and speaks directly to the real struggle of loss and identity.
Coogler set the tone, stating the direction of the story for Wakanda Forever was to focus on the epicenter and aftermath of losing T’Challa. “The main characters, their identities were kind of wrapped in in this man…Shuri, every day she was alive, she had her brother. You know, so when she lost him…what we discovered while we were working on the script, and then eventually bringing it to life with the actors, was that she really lost her sense of self…She identified herself as this guy’s little sister, you know what I mean? And as his protector and as the person who looks out for him”, said Coogler.
“Death comes for everybody…The worst nightmare you can have is if something were to happen to you, the people who you love and leave behind would be unmoored, would be lost after you were gone…It wasn’t really about gender, directly…It was about who was the most affected”
Producer Nate Moore, added to that sentiment, focusing on how the narrative came into being by the desire for the team to bring the best possible story to the silver screen in a way that would leave a lasting impact with fans. “It’s about telling the story that is organic, and I think maybe from the outside, there’s a thought that agendas are at play. It’s just telling good stories”, he assured.
In the modern cinematic landscape, it’s easy for some to lose sight of what the true goal of any story is and it may be easy for people to draw conclusions based on assumptions, rhetoric, or politicization of themes and ideas that can be hyper focused or demonized rather than taken at face value.
It has been a constant struggle within the MCU, one that definitely comes into play when thinking about Phase 4, especially when looking at projects like the recent release of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which both drew critical praise and acclaim as well as harsh criticism from certain members of the Marvel community.
“What we wanted to look at was, you know, when you lose somebody, there’s like, a blast radius. You know, that’s like a bomb that goes off and who’s the closest to it? That’s who we explored,” Coogler said.
Following in the footsteps of the cultural phenomenon of the first film, it’s also important to highlight the cultural touchstone that the world of Wakanda has created and the level of representation it has given to it’s diverse cast and crew. Women have their fair share in this new tale, with the likes of Angela Basset’s Queen Ramonda, Letitia Wright’s Shuri, Danai Guria’s Okoye being joined by new faces, such as Dominique Thorne’s debut into MCU as Riri Williams and introduction of Mabel Cadena’s Namora.
Cadena spoke about her excitement in joining the likes of Wright and the others for this adventure. “This movie has a lot of diversity, a lot of colors, a lot of language, and I’m very proud to be part of something like this, because it’s not just a super hero movie, you know.”
She would also focus on the level of care taken to represent indigenous culture and how it left a positive experience. “I have this new opportunity for belief in me in the world, in the fiction, in my world. I have a new expectation about my career and I’m very happy for being here”
When speaking about Shuri, Leticia Wright spoke about the authenticity in her performance and what it means for Shuri going into this next phase of her life. “We meet her in the first film and she is that ray of sunshine. She’s so clothed and protected in royalty and love…It was like she was the person her brother went to for his protection, his armor”, Wright laughed.
“Her family encouraged her to be a genius to to be faithfully and wonderfully made. So, we follow from that. What does that look like, when your heart is broken…We were able to bring something that felt real, that felt truthful”, Wright added.
Wakanda Forever also proves to bring forward new opportunities for some of the other supporting cast, such as Winston Duke’s M’Baku. “M’Baku was in this movie more than he was in the first Black Panther...like a two to one ratio…He probably has twice as many scenes as he had in the first one.”, Coogler added.
Fans will also be introduced to a new central character through the likes of Tenoch Huerta, who will play the mysterious and powerful, Namor. Huerta discussed his excitement in bringing Namor and his people to the big screen, and the hope to have a more positive tone when looking at indigenous heritage. “In Latin America, especially Mexico, we deny our indigenous roots…It’s just like a token sometimes,” he stated.
“We deny it because it’s not about genes for us because almost everybody in Mexico has indigenous or African roots. It’s about culture, you know. So, culturally, we are a part from indigenous roots. So embrace those roots and honor these two sources…I hope this helped people to embrace who they are, who we are, you know? Look in, everybody, at the mirror and say, what is in the mirror is okay.”
Fans will get to learn all about what’s to come when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuts on the big screen November 11th. Stay tuned for our full, spoiler-free review!

2022 Disney Ultimate Toy Drive
The Disney+ Season’s Streamings celebration coincides with The Walt Disney Company’s 2022 Disney Ultimate Toy Drive benefiting the Marine Toys for Tots Program. For 75 years, Disney has supported Toys for Tots to help bring toys to millions of children in need during the holiday season. Families and fans can join the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive and give back to those who need it most by:
• Donating a toy online at shopDisney.com from now through December 24, 2022, or
• Donating a new, unwrapped toy in person at one of our drop-off locations now through December 12, 2022 (the list of which can be found at Disney.com/toydrive)
Today, The Walt Disney Company launched the 2022 Disney Ultimate Toy Drive in support of the Marine Toys for Tots Program, continuing a 75-year tradition of helping the foundation deliver toys, hope and joy to children in need during the holiday season. Fans and families can join the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive by purchasing a toy to donate online at shopDisney.com now through December 24, 2022, or by donating a new, unwrapped toy in person at a Disney store or Disney store outlet location, the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland® Resort or Disney Springs at Walt Disney World® Resort*, now through December 12, 2022.
Disney is committed to inspiring a better world through the power of stories, and today has released a heartfelt animated spot that celebrates the joy of giving to help raise awareness of the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive.
“Disney is incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone anniversary and continue our longstanding relationship with Toys for Tots to help make the holiday season brighter for children in need,” said Jennifer Cohen, executive vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility, The Walt Disney Company. “We all have the opportunity to deliver joy when we give back to our communities, and by working together through efforts like the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive, our combined impact is that much greater.”
The relationship between Disney and Toys for Tots dates back to the program’s beginnings when Walt Disney and his studio artists personally designed the Toys for Tots train logo that is still used to this day. Since 1947, Toys for Tots and volunteers have distributed nearly 630 million toys to over 280 million children.
“Marine Toys for Tots is fortunate to have a partner like The Walt Disney Company who has supported the program from the very start 75 years ago. Disney’s multifaceted support spanning decades has allowed Toys for Tots to expand its reach delivering hope and joy to millions of less fortunate children. Disney’s community service goals certainly align with those the Marine Corps has promoted for over 75 years through the Toys for Tots Program. We couldn’t be more proud to have a friend like Disney,” said Lieutenant General Jim Laster, USMC (Retired), the President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
Throughout the holiday season, The Walt Disney Company will support Toys for Tots in several ways, including by airing a PSA, voiced by The Conners’ John Goodman, on its television networks and streaming platforms – such as ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Freeform, FX, Hulu and National Geographic – to encourage viewers to participate in the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive. Content from across the networks, including ABC’s General Hospital, various ABC News shows and platforms, and ESPN’s GetUp! will feature Disney Ultimate Toy Drive and Toys for Tots integrations to highlight the season of giving and the importance of supporting communities in need.
Additional toy collections will be hosted by the ABC Owned Television Stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno, as well as at in person events such as the premieres for Disenchanted and The Santa Clauses, both streaming on Disney+ in November.
The Disney Ultimate Toy Drive aims to inspire hope where it’s needed during the holiday season. For more information, visit www.disney.com/toydrive.
